  1. Oh wow. I'd straight up trade my '41 Buick sedanet for this. Interesting choice to list it on the LA Craigslist , where the bomb/lowrider crowd is far more likely to see it.
  2. Probably sacrilege to say it, but since it's already altered I would want to race this at Race of Gentlemen.
  3. Wow, is this the average price for these? Seems like quite a bargain.
  4. I am apparently one of the few who really like these! If it weren't so much of a project, I'd be more interested. Can't think of the last time I saw one in the wild.
  5. Earlier in the week, I posted a segment from an unfinished 1939 movie that had lots of footage taken at automobile plants and steel mills. This is a segment that shows tire manufacture. I don't know what plant it was filmed at, but the other locations of filming were in and around Detroit, Cleveland, and Chicago. This looks like incredibly hard work. Enjoy!
  6. For some reason, the fonts (especially the lowest line in italicized) look too modern to my eyes. It's nicely done but just looks new.
  7. Hello all, I was deep in a rabbit hole viewing old film clips on the Library of Congress site, and came across a collection of footage filmed in 1939 by cinematographer Floyd Crosby, for use in a movie directed by Pare Lorentz. The movie was to tell the story of workingmen and their families, but for some reason was left unfinished. However, the footage remains. Most of the footage was taken in Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, and then out near Grand Coulee Dam, and most has no identifying notes aside from what landmarks/buildings still exist today for comparison. There is quite a bit of footage of automobile and steel manufacturing, including this segment. There is no sound on any of the segments. Correct me if I am wrong but this looks to be Plymouth bodies being stamped (there are other segments filmed of various other Plymouth assembly points). Enjoy! I'll post others.
  8. Was there a bad-looking car in '36? Goodness gracious.
  9. My folks bought a new one, with the Landau top. I was 5, and they let me pick the color (blue). Loved that car! It got rear ended by a cargo van at a stoplight. Very striking in the red and white!
  10. I'm the type of contrarian who would clean it up just a bit and drive it to the local shows where everything else is spit and polish!
  11. Is this a Shay? Or does the paint job make it look really odd in the body proportions?
  12. Maybe 30 years ago, there was a Marmon very similar to this at a small used car lot in Glenview IL called Cy-Kay Motors. I'd never heard of the brand before; the car was in bad shape but still looked pretty regal. It was wedged/parked next to a '41 Ford coupe that I almost convinced my mother to let me buy as my HS daily driver.
  13. Gow job city! Probably sacrilege to say, but I like this a lot!
  14. I believe they'll be covered with new siding.
