  1. Your 1950 is a favorite of mine, too. You have a great "family" link with yours. I have a connection in that mine is just like the first car I had at age 15. Hope you have a Merry CHRISTmas!!
  2. I have a '48 S-11 Custom and it has not drop down arm rest in the back. It is indented, however.
  3. Jack or anyone, Can you help me with running boards for my desoto?
  4. Thanks Jack, I had looked at Steele earlier, but did not go far enough down after I went past the rubber for the front wing. Thanks for sending me back. Pricey, but should be good ones! Roger
  5. I am looking for rubber for the rear wings in my Custom 4 Dr. Bernbaum is out of them and can't tell what Kanter has. Are there any other vendors that I can check out? Appreciate your help, as always.
  6. Jim, Your story is a great tribute to the AACA. I am so impressed by your persistence to accomplish completion of such an interesting project. I am so anxious to see pictures of it. Thanks you for the story. Respectfully yours, Roger

    '48 Desoto Custom

    From the album: DeSoto

Just getting started on new purchase.
  13. Pic of my '48 Desoto...new to the family.
  14. I am in KC area until Thursday, if anyone would like for me to view it for you. Roger
  15. Does this mean you are the keeper of the old automobile literature that everyone has been asking questions of? If so, do you have anything on 1948 Desotos?
  16. I have tried to post some pics, but says they are too large. Can't wait to see your finished project!
  17. Do you have anything on operating manual for a '48 Desoto?
  18. Larry J, Your Desoto story is very similar to mine in thst my Dad paid a 100 for a '48 and I bought it from him for 50 and he later sold it for 20 and a rice hauler used for two years in a rice hauling truck in South Texas, So funny! My wife told me to get rid of two of four cars I had, so I sold a very nice '97 Chevy Truck and kept the '73 1-ton, 72 Duster and '58 Apache truck. She was amazed! Now I have a '48 Desoto in memory of that first car and I just sold the Duster to a very good friend of mine for what I had in it and am putting the 73 up for sale to keep the coffers full for the Desoto. We have been married just over 44 years...and hope we make 45!lol Your work looks SUPER! I am impressed!
  19. I am a newbee, but am restoring a 1948 Desoto Custom. Just in the process of clean up and acquiring necessary parts and books. I will not have pictures for a while since I am out of town and will not be home for a few weeks, I hope. I do love this website. Thx, Roger I have restored the upholstery, but not to original, am working on the steering wheel with POR 15 epoxy stuff and it was very bad. It is beginning to look very good, but still have 10 or so hours to go on it. I will try to post pictures of the upholstery, if I can. I have all of the rubber for weatherstripping and will put it in as soon as I paint it. Have to do a little bodywork and found a good article in "Auto Restorer" magazine with other books and friends willing to contribute. I am having catheretization Monday or Tuesday and may have to have the ole zipper surgery(bypass), so may slow down my progress. Have brakes to do and need to buy a wiring harness and redo the wiring. So, if anyone can help me with where to get certain items, I would appreciate it. I would like to put in a dual Master cylinder, etc., and could use some recommendations. Great site! Thanks, Roger
