  1. My buddy had a 62 Corvair. Tha car had THE smoothest ride ever. The previous owner had filled the front 'well' between the front tires with concrete... The car was also leased to the local mosquito abatement district as it smoked to high heavens... the term " miles/ quart of OIL... Gosh the early '70's were fun...
  2. GMC had a 228 ( pick up trucks) a 236, 248, a 270, and a 302. The 228 had a 3-9/16" bore. The 248 had a 3-23/32" bore. So it looks ike your engine is thge mostly overlooked 236
  3. It's a 42 MPH top speed 1-1/2 ton truck. Nothing cute about it. A ride so stiff that it'll ruin your back...
  4. I had a 1955 4 door Lincoln Capri as my daily driver in the late 1970's. Great back seat... After the first two blocks to get it rolling it was a fast car...
  5. spot on, 2 spark plugs per cylinder = fire truck engine. ALF had bought the engine design then upscaled it for their trucks. Definitely not made for this car. m

  14. With the Lycoming engine it is a SD or SL model produced from 1923-ish to 1928+. The Lycoming engines have an oil pump made from pot metal. These oil pumps are the achilles heel of the truck. The early to mid-1960's Chevy Iron-Duke 4 cylinder oil pump can be mildly modified to replace the original oil pump. If interested, I have a Waukesha, 4 cylinder available - model XOH, that was used in the IH trucks from 1927-1931. Similar displacement & HP. Marty

  20. I think it is very rude to ask over the phone, " what is your best price", without actually even seeing the car in person. That's a red flag as to the type of dolt that you're dealing with....
