  4. I have known Bob at auto and truck for over 35 years,he is the best you can find for elect problems.I have a 1941 lincoln custom with the limo option.I am using an optima battery and the 75 amp alt in a gen case from speed way auto.the alt has a built in regulator.i have the old regulator on the fire wall gutted and the wiring pass thrue so it looks like i have all of the original electics The problem with an optima battery with a generator is the optima will accept as much charge as is available.the gen with a reg will try to charge but cant keep up with what the battery will accept and kills it's self trying. The optima with an alt and built in regulaor works well. my custom has elect over hyd windows and i have installed an elect cooling fan in front of the radiator.I can do stop and go traffic at 95 deg with the head lights on and not run down the battery.
  5. 6v alt in a gen looking case works well and looks correct, they are a little pricey,i goy mine from speedway hot rod

  7. keith try your local brake shop, the boy's at reno brake had rebuild kits, master cylinder and wheel cylinders in stock.I rebuilt the wheel cylinder and replaced the master as it had one mounting ear broken off.
  8. when you pull out the old wire connect the new wire to the old one and pull the new wire in as the old wire is removed . use some silicone spray to help install new wire .
  9. try your local brake shop. I found 1/4" in 25' roll, made fuel line and all brake lines.
  10. yes the 41 zephyr and cont were all 125". the customs were 138" for ether limo or formal sedan.

  14. Check with Merv Adkins in so cal 909-980-1332 I got engine , trans and suspension mount from Him and He had better price than any one.
  15. I have used tall 16" tires on stock Lincoln wheels and stock dodge wheels and had no problem. I put over 40k mi on a set of tires from diamond back on my dodge coupe without tubes. the guys at diamond back said tubes are not needed.
  16. Go to diamond back tire, they have a lot of good info and many tire sizes with black wall or wide whites. I have used there tires on a number of my vintage cars with no problems.
  17. I used Egge machine for all my engine rebuild part. They had pistons, rings, bearings and gaskets in stock. I replaced the valves with straight stem valves, one piece guides and new springs.Water pumps, coil and dist went to Skip in Fl. This thing runs like a clock. Good luck with your rebuild.
  18. Is your car a cab or a coupe , the carson top may be hiding a coupe with roof cut off. I have seen lots of ford coupes with the roofs cut off and the carson top kits installed , makes for a cool hot rod but not so good for a resto project.
  19. I had skip rebuild my water pumps and coil,He also dose work on the v12 dist.I was very happy with his work and price.
  20. I ordered sill plates for my 41 Lincoln custom with the limo option form door sills. It was not a problem for them to repro and they took 13 months but worth the wait. They are perfect , finding parts the zephyrs can be tough, try finding good used nos for a 41 limo. I tried some local sheetmetal shops with no luck,One guy said he would try,but hundreds of $ each was not going to work for me . Door sills have the right stuff and taey were under 1 hundred ea. If you want them right My money is on door sills
  21. Merry Christmas to all in Lincoln land from the Nelsons in Sparks Nevada
  22. Lee I use Valvoline racing oil,it has high zinc content and works well in engines that run hot.Valvoline racing oil comes in 30w,40w and 50w. I live in Nevada and summer temps often get in the 100s so I run 50w.Also zddp aditives are available at any auto parts store.
  23. It is kind of cool to go to a car show with 150 hot rods and customs with only a hand full of restored cars and win best of class and best of show with my 41 custom with the limo option, restored as close as I could get it to correct,V12,wood grained dash and hydraulic windows, repainted the original spode green.I have had the car on the road for just over a year since the restoration and put 3700 mi on it with no problems, but lots of fun. I took the car to the Lincoln GOF at lake Tahoe in june this year. The car was juged at 94 points and got second place.
