  1. I just got my start generator back from Jason Smith and he did a beautiful job restoring it .He machined a new roller for it to replace the worn out one.It has a new comutator and rewound armature and everything else is new.He machine tested it and said it checked out perfectly. The car has been rewired and the switch was rebuilt by Bob's.All lights work perfectly as does the cigar lighter. All wiring was done by the book and checked and double checked. but when I step on the pedal nothing happens.I noticed that the round plunger does not move back very much and over half of the pedal travel is free play.My problems started after I wired the car Could I be missing something here?
  2. Thanks Terry for finding me a prospect for the cover I sent him pictures and deminsions tonight after talking to him this afternoon.
  3. Thanks Hugh, I think these will do the trick.I,ve got a shop that is going to modify mine and these pics will show him what the coil wire tunnel looks like.
  4. Terry, if you know of someone who is needing a good spark plug cover for a 19 to 23 Buick let me know .I have one just like the one in the picture in real good condition but will need refinishing $100 Dollars.
  5. Larry I am not on the road yet Jason Smith emailed me Friday that he has been battling a sinus infection and is a little behind. He said possibly next week he will have it ready.I bought a cover off of ebay and it fits on one end but is 2 1/4 inches too long.I have done all of the measuring and if it is shortened 21/4 inches everything will line up and it should fit perfectly I am thinking this one must have came from a 26 or 27 master as it doesen't have the coil wire tunnel. If possible I need you or Hugh to send me some real good high definition shots of the coil wire tunnel.I have talked to a a shop in Alabaster Alabama that can make anything and they are going to shorten the cover and add the correct tunnel.
  6. What color should the 25 Buick standard spark plug cover be painted to be correct?
  7. Peter,if your cap Inside Diameter is 2" restoration supply has them in chrome or polished Brass.Just go to their catalog and scroll down to moto meter parts. www.restorationstuff.com
  8. About a year ago I had a electrical short in the original wiring which was in real bad shape.I rewired the whole car using wire from Rhode Island wiring.and sent the switch assembly to Bob's and they completely rebuilt it.Everything works perfectly but the horn wire that runs up through the column is still original and all of the insulation has burned off and I want to rewire it.I don't need to pull the wheel but just the horn button.
  9. Can anyone tell me how to remove the horn button and steering wheel from a 25 buick standard?
  10. Larry, this is from my original 25 Buick book of parts.I hope this will help you.img20170106_01055665.pdf
  11. Motoorad,I am sorry but it won't fit the 28.It is for the earlier Buicks around 19 to 23.It is wider than the mid 25s and the holes will not line up.
  12. Thanks Hugh,For the research, this should clear it up as I know it is a 6 because I put it up against my 25 six and it was the length of the head from end to end.
  13. The one I have is not twice as wide as the 25 cover as I stated in an earlier post.it is actually 21/4 as seen in the photos above
  14. Hugh its for a 6 it is the same length as a 25 6 but the 25 width is 31/2 and this one measures 53/4.Also the bolt holes on the 25 is 181/4 center to center this one measures 191/2 center to center. Here is a 25 cover and a 20 cover for comparison.Another thing the 20 cover has the bottom slot for the wires off center and the 25cover the slot is centered also the valve adjustment plate on the 25 is centered with the slot and the 20 is slightly offset.
  15. Thanks Hugh,Laying down like they were on facebook it was hard to see the demensions .They are twice as wide as the 25 cover and the holes don't match up to a 25.Terry Wiegand sent me some pictures of his 20 coupe and it had a good closeup shot of the spark plug cover and it looks like this one
  16. 27donb,I tried to put the pictures on here and it wouldn't let me.I think the resolution is too large for this site and I just bought a new camera and am going to have to study up on it.
  17. 27donb,Here are the pictures you requested. They are in real good shape but will need refinishing
  18. Bob,s completely restored my Combination switch on my 25 and the resistor will start smoking if left in low beam for more than a couple of minutes.
  19. I have a Buick Spark Plug Cover That apparently fits a 1920 and possibly more years.I looked at Terry Wiegand's 1920 Buick engine picture and it is the same one that I have.It is in good condition but will need to be painted and it has the 2 knobs that holds it on I need to sell if someone needs one.I paid $100.00 plus shipping and I just want to get my money back.
  20. Thanks Larry,His rewinding guy is making one for it and jason is machining a new roller for it.I told him to completely rebuild it so I won't have any more problems with it.
  21. Jason is now working on my Start/gen motor and called me Friday and said the comutator was bad and there is none available for the 25 Buicks So there is a guy making one and it will take three more weeks and more money.I am hoping everything else will be ok and he can get it back to me soon.
  22. I talked with Jason This morning and I am getting ready to ship the S/G to him.I appreciate everyone leading me to jason he seems like a class act,I looked at some of his work on his website gallery and was very impressed with the attention to details.
  23. Thank's nickeroadster,I will check with with advanced and see if they can do it.
  24. Larry, I checked all the wiring and everything is ok all the crimps are tight and the starter wires are all wired properly.I checked the wires at the starter with a test light and was getting voltage when the switch was turned on. the old man that worked on it about ten years ago has passed away and nobody at the shop i have always used knows anything about something this old..When i put the starter back in it turned over but was not meshing with the flywheeland when I let it up and pushed it down again nothing happened.I am thinking that the problem may be the flat spot on the roller.By the way your disc I promised is on the way to you I mailed it out today.
