  1. hole in the head, with frank driving his 63
  2. would be a good one for Gene to reproduce, he would sell many many of them
  3. If I would think about the ultimate look for my dream riviera, it would be a 65 GS with all of the options, but with 64 tail lights rear quarter scoops and silver dash fascia
  4. So I do not think that THIS one has been ruined!!!! https://www.holley.com/blog/post/this_detroit_speed-built_1965_buick_riviera_is_built_to_drop_jaws/?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=Organic&utm_campaign=Motor+Life+Articles&fbclid=IwAR0B9QNOy5dUcOGYe5rj4kkTWKCid6GeF93pooNvZ2fNvdO23wxwQAG835E
  5. Let's see if we can ruin the classic roof line on a first generation car!!!
  6. I certainly can identify with adding factory accessories to ones car.
  7. my point is with the general total lack of mechanics and body man these days (since all of the industrial arts programs have been closed in high school and replaced with poetry classes) If there is a talented guy out there, he should use his time to save the marque not ruin it
  8. My Dad had been a Buick man since 1947 when he switched from the Mercury he was driving. He had a 53 a 55 then a 60 (he could never afford a Cadillac like his parents, but the Buick was just under the Caddy in the quality of build). He always read car magazines, dreaming of different cars, but with (at that time) four children and a mid manager corporate job, had to restrict his dreams. Then he saw Mitchell's design of the Riviera. That was it. Like Pygmalion looking at Galatia, he was transfixed. No longer could he think of anything else other than owning one. He started begging my Mom in the middle of 1962. The begging turned into whining, until in 1964, my Mom got tired of it and said (paraphrasing) "Oh George, just go and buy your damned car!" He was overjoyed to say the least and took me down to the Buick dealer to take delivery. It was the best car he ever had in his life, and I am proud to say that it is comfortably parked in my garage today, this son a first generation lover until the day I die
  9. I have a matched set of Hella's in my 64 with no problems
  10. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1965-buick-riviera-43/?utm_source=dm&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2022-10-07
  11. great combination: 63 leather interior, 65 front end, and 64 body with fake scoops and above the bumper tail lights and brushed aluminum dash face. I second that
  12. I would also repair your quarter panel. Too much intrusion into the car body to cut it off and weld another on. The damage is not bad at all considering the talent of good metal men and dent guys these days with great heat shrinking tools available
  13. 65 was the most beautiful year for the riviera
  14. You are too young, unless you mean pre vietnam war!!!!
  15. no just the plush. I like it because it is heavy, rubber backed and has real embroidery Actually protects the original loop carpeting and the original rubber mats in the car, and is very easy to vacuum because it is so thick.
  16. Just got a new supply of these perfect fit first generation riviera embroidered floor mats in. They work so well and look so good just had to post! https://www.ebay.com/itm/263909399779?hash=item3d7239dce3:g:EjIAAOSwa-dWrTlS&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAsGFGgglseRttwQ7z0Q2zdPs6wgvd%2FSNorUvL7iXQ5Wrb%2F046982qCC7CJkb02x87%2B64i73htRrXKTD%2B6ilnutzIBZcImZB1q2KN0bKROMR1pRxPUHsMZHndrRCAHkhlwSs6%2BrdDJLPsr43IfXjo8INIHfP866aeJv6jF4aqKAnW2MMJxCVoGmW1q57M47S6r0WOngp59h1dU7pLRzSNzh%2FtsTSReHR5q1Hl%2FR5lMfR8I|tkp%3ABk9SR_LWx5DsYA
  17. I actually had six old riviera parts cars (back then, they would NOT be considered parts cars today!!! Sold them to the Polish Prince, Dick Malinowski who was heavily into first generation cars years ago.
  18. nice car but restored and had several things not up to par like the rear trunk lining and cardboard, plus quite a comprehensive restoration, could see where the interior panels were dyed green from black and were rubbing off in places. The worst is that someone changed the gauges to digital or what ever they do these days with gauges. Just really affected the overall look of the car.
  19. I think that cars sells a perfectly cut foam piece to install from the engine compartment, had the same problem the foam was deteriorated, new piece TOTALLY solved the problem
  20. the way to sell it is to put in on e bay with a buy it now or best offer. EVENTUALLY someone will need one and buy it although we would hate to see a fresh wreck of a first generation car. If insured by a classic car insurance company, they would be GLAD to pay 2000 for unobtainium In the interim, it should be hung in your ultimate garage on display
