  1. Stay a few car lengths ahead of any cop and back in to a space to park. Or put on the legal plate when on the road.
  2. I still got like a half a dozen AMT models from the mid-60s that are not built yet. I bought them back then and then lost interest when I transitioned to real cars. I wish I had the foresight to keep all the car models that I built while I was a kid instead of destroying so many of them when a friend and I would put firecrackers in them and blow them up...
  3. In my opinion, the asking price would be worth it if it was a two-door hardtop with a good running drivetrain.
  4. As long as not steel belted radials... I think... (especially if they're bias tires) probably still good. Heck. If cheap.. I'd buy them.
  5. maybe time to drop in a sbc... (God forbid...)
  6. I will admit to cutting off a motorcycle when I made a left turn on a green light... Even though he had his lights on his harley dresser... my tired body ( after 10 hours driving at work) avoided contact!!!.. i had made a left turn right in front of him... Luckily when my brain registered the situation..the 428 in my 67 t bird got out of his way... (and i was still in my fifties when this happened...) statistically speaking...the self driving cars tend to do better than humans (I hate to say)
  7. I'm a retired truck driver and got used to using the GPS especially looking for traffic backups. But I still use my paper maps to help me find the ways I really want to go.
  8. My POS Cadillac sedan was a parts car for a convertible project back in the '70s. That sedan still runs and drives but looks like a POS with the worn out original paint on the main body and all the old tin and chrome from the convertible. Yes, it would be nice to have it look 100%. But I'm not willing to spend thousands upon thousands of dollars and the time to restore it. It just ain't worth it. But I still drive it as I have been since buying it in 1985.
  9. This interior part is what I'm missing besides the foam. I will try and recreate a similar part utilizing a top from a tin can. Nothing but the best for my Cadillac.
  10. It took me a half a dozen looks before I figured out what I was looking at... Dang cool btw...
  11. Somewhere in my huge pile of stuff I think I have a Oakland hubcap.
  12. Seems similar to the design of my 41 Cadillac horn button. I've got the cap and the horn ring and everything else is missing. Purpose of the horn button and mechanism is to put a ground to the horn relay...
  13. After forty years of driving big trucks and four million miles since I got my permit at age 16 I'm still learning how to drive.
  14. I'm impressed with your determination and your workmanship! My '68 wagon has that style wheel (available with the disc brake option) and I also have original 67/68 police hubcaps that is also the same style as yours.
  15. I have a 1941 Cadillac series 62 four-door sedan and it has five 15 inch wheels and the original 1941 style big hub caps. until now i have always thought the 15s i have are original. think the original tire size was 700x15. I Like the look of those wide whites Diamondbacks. I'm definitely going to consider those when it's time for a new set of tires.
  16. I have a pair of 1963 style black California plates that were originally issued in 1968 or 1969. I checked with the California motor vehicle department and they said that the plate number is not ‘clear’. so I guess somebody currently is using a 1956 style California yellow plate with the same letters and number sequence as a YOM plate.
  17. I'll poke along with my daily driver $4000 beat up Prius for a while longer... I've still have a 68 Impala station wagon with a receiver hitch if I need a tow vehicle...
  18. rocketraider... that makes sense. when I bought that 60 Fleetwood It did have two wheelcovers as you described. I wish I took a picture of them. I did sell them but they may have been DeVille wheel covers instead of Fleetwood (if there is a difference) and the 4 rims (wheels) that i have do have the slightly larger outside diameter that seems to be unique to 15” rims (wheels) for 1960 (and maybe 1959 and MAYBE 1958 cadillac autos.) the deep dish wheel covers do need those weird rims (wheels) similar to the first picture in the first post. strange that cadillac had numerous unique wheelcover designs that required the strange looks of the rims (wheels) and outside dimensions in the fifties and sixties.
  19. wheels…rims. hey… what do i know? i was raised in socal.
  20. some years ago I bought a 1960 Fleetwood. sold it about five years ago. I still have the four 15” rims that were on the car when I bought it. they look like normal rims (unlike the ones that were used later in the 60s in my limited experience. are these rims correct for a 1960 Cadillac? if not what are they correct on? the 1966 rim pictured is correct for a 1965 and later cad. it’s similar in look to the 1962 (and probably 1961…) rim but a quarter inch smaller outside diameter 16 and 3/8”. the 1962, 1963 and 1964 rims are 16 and 5/8 inch outside diameter. and so are the four rims that were on my 1960 fleetwood. 16 5/8. but otherwise appear like most other normal rims. thank you in advance for your input and knowledge.
  21. if you live in the west and drive in the higher elevations chains might be the difference of getting somewhere or staying put. i’ve chained up a few times in the mountains north and east of los angeles. even can happen just east of san diego and north and northeast of sacramento. chaining up ain’t fun. rather be drinking hot cocoa.
  22. the 1961 gm bubble top i like is this one on the 2dht impala and the other divisions....
  23. i prefer the 1955,6,7 styles of the big three. in my humble opinion 1958 ford and gm products are ugly. chrysler was better in 1958. 1959 was slightly better for gm (except for cadillac fins). 1959 ford was still awkward. by 1960 styles were somewhat better yet. (especially ford.) 1961 were the best looking for the gm. if i had a single choice it would be a 55 chevy nomad. and if i had a second choice it would be a 61 gm bubble top 2dht.
  24. i had a rough 40 la salle sedan with a factory steel sunroof. pretty neat! sold it a few years ago to a restorer.
