  1. Getting the car painted this winter. I need both the upper and lower tailgate pieces for my wagon. Mine have quite a bit of rust. Anybody have anything? I think the 1954 and 1955's may work too. Thanks
  2. Sorry again. I bought the motor and tranny over a year ago and don't have the guy's info any more. You might try Wheatbelt Buick at 580-855-2449. Ask for Ken. I bet he has what you need. I have purchased some parts from them and they are good to work with. Good luck.
  3. Sorry, I don't have the cross member from the car.
  4. I have a Dynaflow transmission from a 1963 Buick for sale. I purchased the transmission with a 401 motor. I needed the motor but not the transmission. It came out of a running car. It should work fine but I can not verify condition. It is located in Decatur, IL. Price $100
  5. I need a draft tube that vents the back of the valley pan for an early 401. Can anybody help? Thanks
  6. One of the things I have planned for my winter projects is a new exhaust system. The factory tips for the dual exhaust bumper are next to impossible to find. Has anybody come up with a similar after market solution? I want to stay with the rectangular shapped tips, not round.
  7. Its pretty easy. There is a small roll pin that you drive out and the gear will come off.
  8. I need the lower tail gate for my 1956 wagon. I think a 1955 or 1954 might fit too. Too much rust at the bottom of mine. Can anybody help? Thanks, Steve
  9. I have heard Tahiti Coral refered to in many terms, but never eraser pink! Makes sense. I had expected the Dover White to be like Bulldog has on his Roadmaster. I will be sure I use the right shade when the time comes. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
  10. Willie, cream-white is more like I was expecting. The sample I got was definately a gray-white. Jaybird, your color combinations look great. Is your white Dover White? What is the lower color? Its kind of hard to tell exactly with all the reflections. When it gets to be time for me to paint, I will explore more white options. The Tahiti Coral is kind of growing on me. It really works for the vintage car. Thanks for the input, Steve
  11. My 1956 Century wagon came with two tone Dover White and Apricot. I hope to get it repainted this winter and was looking at Dover White with Tahiti Coral. I purchased a half pint of the two colors to paint a test panel to be sure I would be ok with the Tahiti Cora. I liked the Tahiti but my surprise was with the Dover White. It was really a light gray and not what I would call white. It is possible that the white I have on my car now is not the Dover White but another shade. The PPG codes I have are 70679 for the Tahiti Coral and 8035 for the Dover White. My question is, was the Dover White more of a white color or gray color? The paint store had a hard time getting the color codes. Thanks
  12. Wow, makes all the difference in the world.
  13. Check RockAuto.com for the seals. It shows the pitman seal being 0.256". It shows the pinion seal as 0.375". Hope that helps.
  14. I used a crows foot with an extension longer than the starter body. It was a bit of a pain as I remember but it should come off ok. It went back a little easier after I cleaned up the threads. Good luck.
  15. Paul, You are so far ahead of me! I am still waiting to get my rebuilt 401 back from the machine shop. Please keep posting with details of what you have done. I need inspiration and motivation.
  16. Here is a photo of my 1956 Century Wagon. I have factory holes in the frame on both sides for the exhaust. I am surprised that the frames came two different ways. Steve
  17. Sounds like it is flooded. I never had any luck getting a car to start if the plugs were black and wet. If they are fouled try a new set if handy.
  18. Want to buy a rear sump oil pan for a 364, 401, or 425 motor. Anybody got a spare? Drop me an email at steveindecatur@gmail.com Thanks, Steve
  19. 40series, I sent a PM with questions about the carbs.
  20. Have any four barrel carbs with the electric start switch? Let me know if you do.
  21. Thats my backup plan, but the gas pedal start is too unique to give up on easily.
  22. Thanks Mark. I think I have a line on an intake but still need the carb with the starter swith so I can use the gas pedal function. I am not sure what the last year was that Buick used the push to start feature on the accelerator. Steve
  23. I am looking for a factory four barrel intake and carburetor for an early Buick 401 nailhead. The carb needs to be the type with the starter switch. Let me know if you have an extra. Steve
  24. Bob, I am interested in the 1956 front left 60 series fender. Are you anywhere near Illinois?
