Never had points deducted with these don't know why I would.  They are expensive but hold up well.  This is for a 65-66 Corvair.

I just placed my order for this battery.  I hate that the correct Group 53 batteries are no longer available, so this will have to do.  Thanks to all for your help.

I got a correct battery for my 66 Corsa convertible from Battery Central Mall in VA.  It is an Optima battery in a correct case which I have had good luck with.

Yep, vintage batteries are available for late model Corvairs, but there are none available that fit early models.

  3. I am preparing to show my 1963 Corvair Spyder at an upcoming National, and I am having difficulty finding a battery that has the look of the original.

"Vintage" batteries are available for '65-'69 Corvairs but not for the early models.  There are not even fake tar-tops available for the size 51 battery that goes in early Corvairs.

My question is, will I lose points for a battery that doesn't look like the original, even though such a battery does not exist?

  4. I called my State Farm agent today to see if my incomplete Corvair project was covered by my homeowners policy.

I was advised that homeowners insurance does not extend to automobiles.  Furthermore I can't get auto insurance on the vehicle until it is finished.

My poor little Corvair is truly unsafe at any speed.  Any suggestions on how I can get a policy on this project, to protect me from fire and theft until the car is roadworthy?

Larry was scheduled to attend the September TCA Owners Club meet, but was not there, I believe because of some ‘health related’ reason. I have not heard more about him since.

    That's what I was thinking.  I hope he's OK.

  6. I need to replace the ABS relay (Siemens V2313-K3-X68).  So far I have not found a plug-in replacement for this relay.  The modern 30A automotive relays have a different pinout, so the socket would need to be rewired, which I would like to avoid.  Is there a plug and play substitute for the original Siemens relay?

  7. It depends on where you live and drive.  WLW is still popular in Cincinnati.  WHAS is still listened to in Louisville, KMOX still has an audience in St. Louis, WABC has a following in New York, etc.  Smaller markets have little to offer on the AM band.  At any rate, removing AM radios from cars will surely be the final nail in the medium's coffin.

Just curious, I have a 1971 Triumph TR6 that is restored to concours quality and pretty much authentic to the 71 year but I have modified the interior with high quality wood dash and leather interior instead of the plain wood that Triumph put in and the vinyl that they originally offered.  Engine, body and lighting is original style with the original paint color etc.  If I signed up for the appropriate AACA tour, would I be allowed to participate and accepted on the tour or would I be snubbed?  My 1928 Durant isn't read yet for the tours, but I'd like to participate in some.  What do you think?

You and your Triumph are more than welcome to tour with us on the Southeastern Divisional Tour, April 30 - May 1, in Oak Ridge TN.  We're a fun group and we would love to see what you have done with your TR6.

I was cleaning up old emails and came across this email that was dated July 6, 2022.  Names have been removed to protect the innocent.

We own a 1989 Maserati bought from (name removed), who I believe was a club member. Our Maserati was specially made for Wrestler James "Kamala" Harris and has the plaque inside showing this.

Well, now I know where my little TC is now.  It's too bad about the head gasket.  Hopefully the owner was able to get it fixed.  I suspect the car did, indeed, belong to James "Kamala" Harris, although the plaque only says "Kamala."
