  1. I would like to offer one change 1989 202012. It has been converted to a 16v.
  2. That's fantastic, thanks! I'll shop around for someone to convert this into a windshield decal. PM your address and I'll have one made for you.
  3. Now if you can tell me how to make/buy/borrow a template for the under hood insulation, I would be a very happy camper!
  4. Put me down for: 1989 VIN 202012 yellow-ginger-black auto yes yes Will have to dig around to get the data for the 16v donor car
  5. TomChrysler, Since the treatment is oily, do you have to mask off around the top to keep the spray from going where its not supposd to go? How often to you have to do the treatment? Annually? Cheers
  6. If anyone is really trying to keep tabs on the 16v cars, put me down for one. The heart of Dan Culkin's 16v TC now beats in my car and pretty strongly, too. Was driving home late last night, the road was empty, so I let the full weight of my foot settle on the gas pedal. Man, did she fly! And unlike my son's 2007 Mustang, the motor was almost whisper quiet. Man, I love this car!!
  7. Been thinking about cleaning and treating my convertible top. Looks it has some dirt in the fabric plus I noticed the water didn't bead when I washed the car the other day. Trying to decide which product to use--303, Raggtopp, or the Porsche cleaners. Very interested in hearing what others think about these products (ease of use, how well they clean and protect, price, etc). Cheers PS I noticed where the ribs hold up the cloth, the fabric is looking a little different. Almost shiny like worn dress pants. Is this something I should be concerned about?
  8. Anyone try one of these radiators from either TurbosUnleashed or RadiatorExpress? Curious about any opinions on how well they do with our cars.
  9. Check with with IMCDB. It lists all the car makes that have appeared in TV and movies. It lists only 2 times that the TC appeared on film. Once is in the movie Lionheart (1990) and in the other was in the TV series Hunter (Season 6 Episode 13). Anybody have more to add? Had to think about this question the other day when I saw a 1980s Pontiac Fiero featured prominently in the new movie Pain and Gain. Wonder if there is still a chance to get a TC on the silver screen?
  10. Also interested in hood support struts if they are still in good shape.
  11. Interested in any of the following if in very good/excellent condition: 1. Hood insulation. 2. Center Console (but not arm rest), if wood parts are intact and controls work. 3. Drivers seat (no tears/worn spots). PM me if these parts are available and your asking price for each (plus shipping).
  12. Tried Rick Diogo and Arizona Parts. No joy. Anyone out there have a spare?
  13. Just great! I managed to blow out the temp gasket Brian installed in my engine on the ride home today. Lousy traffic and worse drivers made me lose my temper. Like any intelligent person, I took out my frustrations by mashing the gas pedal. Now I have a nice big puddle of oil under the car. :-( Ssooo, any chance those gaskets will be ready before the 1st of the year?
  14. If you decide to part out, I would be interested in (a) all motor/trans mounts and ( the driver's side carpet (if in very good/excellent condition).
  15. Would be nice if we could talk to someone who was involved with the design team. While Chrysler may have been working on a design before Maserati got involved (maybe even involving Shelby or Lambo), the design similarities (exterior and interior) between the TC and Maserati's other road cars indicates that Maserati certainly had a significant input. Plus, Maserati had time to re-engineer the 2.2 as a DOHC.
  16. Does anyone have an idea of how Maserati and Chrysler decided on the TC's look? I ask because somewhere I thought I had read that Chrysler was the prime mover but when I came across photos of the Maserati Biturbo Spyder and the Karif, I see a lot of similarities to the our cars. Would appreciate any insights you TC historians out there may have.
  17. Guys, It was only this summer (after having the car for 3 years) that I finally took the hard top off and brought out the soft one. I love the look! I may never put the hard top back on. Been having a lot of fun running around town and going for short hops. Today, however, was the first time I took it out for a longer drive to Philly to drop it off for an engine swap. On the way, my wife, who was following me, called to let me know that the top was visibly flapping. I hadn't noticed any movements from the inside or heard any noise. Still, when I reached my hand out, I could feel the top cover vibrating pretty well. The fabric seemed taut to me beforehand and its appearance is practically new. So what do I do? I presume there is a way to tighten the fabric, right? Is it something I can do or will I have to take it to a shop? Thoughts?
  18. I, too, need a gasket. Brian Slowe finally has my car and will be transplanting the rebuilt 16v into The Maz in the next couple of weeks. The one part that is missing is the gasket. So if you have them, let me know so we can arrange to one shipped pronto to Philly.
  19. I wonder if anyone could recreate those louvers for the hood. Those look pretty cool.
  20. Great that you "showed the flag" for the TC. When I was still in Germany last year, I took mine to an American car show at one of the big transportation museums north of Stuttgart. It was pretty cool to be part of the show. The locals were definitely puzzled by it (they were very familiar with the Big Dogs like Mustangs, Corvettes, Camaroes and pink Cadillacs) so I got a chance to give some history lessons. One guy even called it "ein tolles auto" (a fantastic/wonderful car). It was a wonderful day!
  21. I'm on the opposite side of that equation. I found a rotted out 16v car and had the engine pulled and rebuilt to be put into my 8v baby. The guy doing it gave me 3 boxes of parts--including wiring looms, belts, etc--to hold onto because they are probably not interchangeable with the 8v. I'm hoping his work schedule will open up soon so we can complete the transfer.
  22. Unfortunately, the final analysis will have to wait. I called the shop and they are over a week behind with a full lot of cars ahead of me. guess a week from Monday is the earliest I can get someone to dive into it. That said, the mechanic who went out to register the car into their system tried to start it up and told me he thinks the timing belt is broken. Does that sound right? I've never had that kind of problem before so I don't know the symptoms.
