So, has it ever been restored?🤔
-
Pretty sure I won’t be in this stratosphere anytime soon but as an outside observer, I’d be tickled to own or drive this car. To each his own but I don’t understand any issues with who did the work whether it be 1932 or 2010. A guy or group of guys took drawings on a piece of paper and used their skill to shape panels into art. None were mass produced in a stamping as far as I know so my hunch is old timers would have been thrilled to build customs with more modern equipment if possible instead of a mallet.

Just for reference, I went out to CA to look at a very similar year Olds with the V8 a couple years ago. Very nicely restored top to bottom and the asking price was 18K. Unfortunately it hadn’t been well maintained after all the work was done. Great eye candy but I’m no Ed and we couldn’t get it started. Probably explains why it was for sale so long. If they didn’t do the motor correctly, grab ur ass. That 12K would be a drop in a very deep bucket as the parts are almost unobtainium.

No f ing way! I think I just had breakfast again, thanks for the warning...

I’ve kept old tires with decent tread remaining just for static display reasons. But only because they don’t make the EXACT tires anymore.

Seeking Advice On Future Dealings With USPS Shipping
deaddds replied to hddennis's topic in General Discussion
I only use usps as they are the only ones that will pay off the screw ups. And they ALL screw up. I insure a part for what a buyer paid so there is a paper trail and tracking comes with priority. I’ve had a couple things lost/damaged and postal paid both. Fed Ex and UPS have both been happy to take my money for extra insurance and then told me to GFY when it arrived damaged. Haven’t had either lose anything so they have that in their favor but both have damaged parts and lay the blame w me. It’s ALWAYS your fault, not theirs. Good luck. -
Do you have the part number? If not, send me a photo of the switch and i can look to see what i have. Might have an nos one. Email me direct at dead@mchsi.com

Ah, so this clearly changed once those early cars stopped having the threaded hubcaps, right? -

I’m not quite versed in this but what is a custom hub puller? And how would a hubcap dial this in? What does one look like? -

Took this photo of a photo on the wall in the hotel. Not for sure if this is a Denver area dealer or Estes Park.

Doh... yep, reverse that. 150 gallons. I got up too early...😜I had to recheck the other math. One out of two ain’t bad, right? C student.

I think the fees involved to cover the infrastructure equation is going to have to skyrocket. If roughly $.50 a gallon goes towards roads, a $75 extra charge on plates isn’t jack. That’s only 150 gallons of gas equivalent, for an annual use. Politicians can’t do math, even with Harvard degrees, so now they will in short time need to panic on costs. That won’t play well on nbc or cbs or the narrative on the great savings. The average American uses about 650 gallons annually. So logically government needs to collect $325 extra one way or another per EV. Currently government is subsidizing the cost to purchase EVs so they are bleeding more free money to PAY folks to buy EV that the government needs more money to keep roads viable. The $325 I guess is peanuts if you want the privilege of driving but for lots of folks, if the feds quit the $7500ish subsidy, my hunch is more moaning as millennials cant make new math work.

I think it depends on the years. I’ve got several nos units that are complete in terms of sheathing and sometimes specific ends. Then others that are just the cable, usually square ends and I suppose you snip the length to fit. Not sure what to do with no sheath.
