In defense of upside down Landau Irons
John Kelso replied to John Kelso's topic in General Discussion
Correct? Not correct? There is the factory literature, what is not correct? -
As I looked at the Pebble Beach pictures and read some of the comments about Landau Irons I was sitting beside my Pierce with a California Top by the Morgan Co. First picture is from the Morgan Catalogue, of note is the position of the bars on the coupe and touring car. Two other pictures are of my Pierce and of a 1933 Lincoln Looking closely at the touring car and the shape of the windows I see no way they could be turned around plus the literature confirms they are in the correct position. The Lincoln irons are functional and in this case are installed in the accepted method

1900 Locomobile Steam Car - $20K
John Kelso replied to Leif in Calif's topic in "Not Mine" Automobiles For Sale
No John it is now sitting in a museum. Although a beautiful car it had some very basic design issues. I was unwilling to make these changes ,for historical reasons, so it couldn't have been a reliable tour car, just go for on and off the show field. I am still grateful to my friend the late Sterling Walsh for passing the job on to me -
1900 Locomobile Steam Car - $20K
John Kelso replied to Leif in Calif's topic in "Not Mine" Automobiles For Sale
yes that is the kit produced several years ago, the original one John pictured is mine. Those kits were fun, relatively easy to build and run. Great fun for the right person without the usual hassles. No, wouldn't have one in my shop but can see the modern steam appeal. -
Thank you both

I am looking for the wall mounted sconce as pictured here. This is an original cast iron one but I have seen reproductions cast in aluminum at Hershey and this is what we are looking for. Just the sconce please I know where to get the other parts. Your help is greatly appreciated as we are trying to restore an old garage/dealership. Thanks, John Kelso
