I was raised in a small town funeral home. When mom and dad went away you'd be amazed at how much fun
you can have in a hearse. Of coarse that was a more lenient time.

Edsel, The Story of Henry Fords Forgotten Son is an excellent book but a bit sad.

Edsel Ford, CEO of Lincoln, always drove Lincolns, several made especially for him

You should be able to find modern hinges without holes that size, then grind the ends to match your originals.
Try McMaster Carr

My Father was working on a 1906 Buick around 1960, it had the wrong engine. Norm(Mr. Becker to me) had a spare engine missing
a few parts and we got it. Such a nice man, he even had time to talk with a kid. A much different time in our hobby.

I am presently doing wood replacement on a 1936 Lincoln LeBaron Convertible Coupe and have found glue only on finger joints.
On the Stanley bodies I have built they are all glued and screwed.

A few years ago we were on the Bristol NASCAR track at a higher speed in a 1908 Stanley. They are very fast for a short period, this is an H, the other car is K, bigger boiler more steam generated and in reserve.

My first car in 1966 was a 1960 Thunderbird Convertible. Loved everything about the car and had it for several years and many miles. Have owned a
couple early birds but never liked them.

Like Yachtflame I have a shop full of equipment and no one interested. Were a young person truly interested in learning and had the temperament I'd probably
give them my shop. There was a time when we bought work just to have summer jobs for kids. Its been 10 years since one came looking for a job .

You are right I made the old Mr Scrooge look like a saint, can't imagine why any employee ever stayed

Rusty I don't agree with that statement, Restorer32 and I are quite alike.

Quite a lot of this discussion seems to be about making money, perhaps that's why there are so many unhappy people today.
Formal education was not for me, but I learned to do my own work and I'm happy working.
My interest stops at 1932 so perhaps I look at things differently

Terry ,I knew the fellow who restored that car and had ridden in it a few times, Al Martin. A good guy, he did a great job and it was a fine Stanley. Died way to young
and his family donated it to the museum in Estes Park.
