  1. Having been involved in steam for over 45 years I can tell you there is nothing mysterious about it, but its not for everyone. Having a logical mind

I think is most important. If you understand the basic systems and how each works then apply them all together it isn't complicated.  I would gladly teach

anyone about steam or help them get one up and running, however as one of the above posts points out we are getting older, as it is now the buzzards follow me to the shop every morning.  The best test as to weather you can be in steam as I often tell people" you must be able to remain calm when the entire front of your car is on fire" This one pictured was on the Bristol NASCAR track now living in a museum.

  2. Twice I have attacked by raccoons during the day , both carrying rabies. In our area they are nocturnal.  Working in Jacks area a few years ago I was surprised to see them during day light hours, my first reaction was find a weapon. During this same period one entered the kennel of some hunting dogs

and caused a lot of damage.

  3. I have restored two, one off pre 1900 cars. In both cases there were reasons they were one of one.  Not to dismiss creative people but you have

to think back 125 years. For me I knew neither car would ever be a tour car unless I made some drastic changes. Making those changes for me was not restoring, it would have been re engineering. If you want a road car get something proven like a model T

  5. The gentleman who lost his life in the London to Brighton run was more responsible or distracted than the driver who hit him.

The Knox driver did not follow directions, drove on to a high speed freeway probably not doing much over 10MPH and got hit.

Agreed there are a lot of idiots behind the wheel these days

  6. Henry Austin Clark wrote an article many years ago about driving an L29 Cord to Hershey. He was not allowed to park it among the show cars,

it wasn't 25 years old, although not a post war fan this article made me more accepting. I do not consider my 1973 XKE Roadster an antique but

accept in some peoples eyes it is. My 1907 Stanley, well, that's a different story.
