  1. Hi again Bob, hope you had a good Christmas. Good news I have the parts, bad news the guy pulled it all out before I could get him to take pics. Do you have any pictures left from when you did it that you let me have. Many thanks and thanks again for the advise. Happy new year
  2. Thanks again Bob, this is really helpful. I can only hope that the guy will do that for me…..this info is priceless can't thank you enough.
  3. Thanks Bob, thought as much. Glad to hear someone has done it. Good news I may have sourced a 2DHT 98 with everything in it. Problem re configuration is that Im in England….so Ill have to ask the guy very nicely if he could photo it all for me. Thanks for your help. Mark
  4. Hi can anyone answer this. i am looking to convert my 1956 88 2DHT from manual to power windows. I have found a parts 98 4DHT that has the power window mechanisms, but are the rear windows mechanisms on the 2DHT the same as those on the rear of a 4DHT, i always thought not due to the way the 2D rears go down, they rock back then drop. I am assuming that the window mechanisms in the manuals are totally different from the power windows, and that everything needs replacing.
  5. Hi I need help with power windows. I have a 1956 2DHT 88 and want to convert to power windows. I can replace all the mechanical parts with a power window set from a1electric.com a power windowspecialist, and I know Fusick have the switches and relays etc. But the rear windows mechanism are different on two doors, as they go back and down, and they won't have them. 1. Can I use the mechanism thats there some how. 2. Does anyone have a 2D HT rear mechanism set. 3. Can I use window mechanisms from another GM same period 3. Any other suggestions would be good. Thanks
  6. Someone used to make reproduction's of these. I have none does anyone know of any out there. I believe 15" is the size. Thanks Mark markven@mac.com
  7. Yes you would have thought that, and many people make that mistake. But the UK road authorities who insist that every car older than 3 years has to undergo a road inspection every year, deemed that there is not enough adjustment available and that they would rather see that a car has got lights specifically designed to dip for our roads. Without passing this and other points you cant get a cert of roadworthyness, therefore it is not allowed on UK roads. Hey ho.....
  8. Hi can any one tell me what size the headlight bowls are on the 1957 Buick Super, I'm here in England and one of the things we have to do is change out the headlights for use on the other side of the road. You cant just swap them over they have to bee UK spec, I just need the size...are they 7" Thanks for your help. Post here or email me below markven@mac.com
  9. Hi can someone tell a lay person what the best thing to do in this case, as Im in England getting Ball Joints rebuilt is even more expensive. So can I change it all and make say the 1958 or 1959 or any other year fit, or can I do the mix and match for the 57 Upper and 59 Lower, and does this still mean an Upper Ball joint rebuild. Can anyone help walk me through how all this is done. Also are the Ball Joints model specific, as I have seen adds that say "fits all models" and others that say "series 70 and 60" etc, very confusing Many thanks Mark 1957 Super 4DR HT
  10. Can someone please help, I am trying to find a replacement "SECTOR SHAFT" for my 1941 series 66 coupe, the Group No is 6.524 and Part no is 269887. I am also told that the part is also called the "TUBE AND WORM ASSEMBLY" , what it looks like is about 6 inch long cylinder with teeth on it, or poss a roller, sorry to be so vague, apparently years 1941 -1948 work. I have also been told its series dependent. Maybe someone out there with much more experience and mechanical knowledge can advise or help. My mechanic thinks this is the likely cause of the large amount of end play as all the other parts are fairly new, king pins etc. This is the only thing that's holding up me getting this car on the road here in England. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks Mark email: markven@mac.com
