  1. The Crosley Auto Club has a youth program where we give a car to a young person with a mentor to restore. It has proved to be very popular with our members as well as the young people involved. Our first car was completed 2 years ago and the second will probably be done early next year. On satisfactory completion, the title is awarded to the young person. Personally all of my cars are being given to my grandchildren. My grandson showed his Farm o Road at the West Virginia show this year and one granddaughter showed hers at Hershey! I look forward to the day when I see them all on the showfield at the same time!!
  2. Joe; To echo what Steve said, it is quite an honor just to be nominated. Of all the cars in all the shows in the nation, to have yours picked out as one of the best is outstanding. If I remember correctly, there was a winner either last year or the year before that was his 8th nomination!!! Personally, I am on my 5th in a row with one of my cars and EVERY letter is framed and in my display case!! My grandson's car was also nominated this year. Be proud of that achievement! See you in Philadelphia!!!
  3. George; As soon as my house sells here in PA. I will be retiring to Palm Bay. With your permission I will look you up and maybe next year I can help you with pa to Florida and back as I will be making frequent trips with trailer in tow
  4. Dale I am about an hour from Hershey and if you can work it out your friend is welcome to park In the back yard
  5. And have they figured out where we will be able to park between the show ending and the end of the banquet?
  6. I'm looking forward to watching. I hope they don't distort history too much
  7. Wayne, it was on the grounds of the Edsel Ford estate in Grosse Point Michigan. Nice show, nice location, nice people.
  8. You can't overlook my favorite...... Hershey turkey legs!!!!
  9. Joe; The Crosley people were truly honored to be a part of your event. The class sign given to us was signed by all who attended and placed in the club archives. There was so much positive reaction in the club Thank you again!!
  10. Crosley Farm o Road. I'd sure be interested to know which president of the Crosley club sold it to him!! It is NOT a 4X4!
  11. Hey Grog.....what about us Crosley people??? I am of course kidding , but for a marque that only made about 75,000 cars, we have a very loyal and dedicated following. No where near as big as many, but as a percentage of cars made, we are pretty good. Hope to see you in Wauseon!!!
  12. Great photos of what was a great event. One of the best class hosts I have ever had. All around an event I'd love to attend again
  13. Nice pictures. You should have stopped over and visited us in the Crosley display!
  14. Good show weather held out and no rain after 7 today. It got hot in the afternoon however the early dismissal from the show field gave everyone plenty of time to pack and hit the pool before the dinner and awards. Nice job by all concerned.
  15. I'm sorry I didn't see your question earlier. The round table is an occasion where as many of the national directors as can be in attendance are available for any questions that you may have. Today's session included discussion on recruiting new members and making them welcome once they do show up. I for one learned a few new ideas!!
  16. Like many young men I had an interest in English sports cars in the early 70s. A good friend of mine in college and I were working on a mid 60s MG Midget one afternoon in preparation for a rally when I stated that it was a shame no American company ever built a "real" sports car. He said "sure they did....Crosley....built the Hotshot.....won the first race at Sebring". That planted a seed. While a young married guy, building a career, raising kids etc, I didn't have the money or time to have a toy. Then one day, I realized I had time and a few extra dollars to play with. The seed that had been planted 20 years previously began to grow . I looked for and found my first car. The point I am trying to make is that while we may not see instant results while trying to interest younger people we should continue the effort. It will pay off in the long run. If you get them interested today, they will be back when the time comes. In the meantime, I think we should also focus on those people in "our" age group that are potential members today!!! Every carshow that happens in every area has a large group of people that either attend or show a car that are NOT members. By showing some interest in them and their cars, carrying applications, literature etc. We could draw in new members. It is a effort but I think well worth it!
  17. Can't wait to see it in person!!!! This is going to be a totally fun year!!
  18. Grog, I assume you are coming to Crosley nationals? If so please be sure to identify yourself. I want to ask you a few questions about moving my cars to Florida. Trying to decide what I am going to leave in pa.
  19. We had our Regional meeting this evening and several "experts" verified that the assembly is in fact Chrysler Imperial
  20. Today while wandering a local antique shop I came across what may be a wooden wheel, hub, cap and tire for a 1920s Chrysler Imperial. The design on the cap seems to match and the wheel looked to be in decent shape . I took a couple pictures with my phone, but I don't have the ability to load them here. I have them on my phone and if someone wants to send me their number, I'll text them. The vendor was asking 95.00 for the works. If someone wants it, I'd pick it up for them and deliver to Charlotte, or hold for pickup. I don't know much about the early stuff, but I,m trying to learn!!!
  21. Jim; I am editor of the Ontelaunee region newsletter Tin N Brass. I have gotten a lot of good stuff trough the newsletter exchange with over regions. Would be happy to put on my monthly list if you like Dave
  22. Deb and I were brough to tears with this news. Herb was one of the people I felt truely close to in AACA We always looked forward to talking with him at every show. RIP Marine. Get Heaven straightened out for us for when we all arrive!!
  23. Padgett; I am looking at retirement in the next few months in Florida. Here in Pa we have a one time registration fee of 75.00 no annual registration and no annual inspection for antique autos. Can you fill me in on Florida? I need to decide how many cars I'm taking south.
  24. Dale; It appears that a good part of his videos are pictures pirated from this website. Have you contacted a moderator from the site? At least maybe he could get blocked from the site for his behavior!!
  25. A number of years back I was talking to an old gentleman that I knew about his collection. He told me that when he died his daughter was going to have everything crushed just to clear the land. Now he had over 200 air cooled! Autos of every kind stored out in a woods just rusting away. Most were just junk but had a lot of hard to find parts on them. There was also literally tons of nos Japanese sheet. Metal "returning to the earth" and 3 school buses loaded with nos parts in their factory boxes. pout I promised him that I would try to prevent that when the time came. When he died it took me 3 weeks to contact her. He words "the crusher will be there in 30 days".. I managed to save some but I still cry to think of all that was lost.
