  1. Thanks Vila I did some more digging and basf brand has a dealer in town and they had a sample that is so close that i am going with that. Im painting the front clip and if it does not match I will continue on the rest of the car. it was painted in 1988 with base clear so it will be an easy repaint as there is very little repair. Happy motoring
  2. Does anyone have the formula for Toronto blue #217 in modern single stage. I have hit a dead end with ditzler and dupont ,ppg. Im in Canada so no shipping from U.S. Thank Kevin
  3. What car do you have ? I have some doors from a model 130 4 door, early 1928 before they stretched the body. Where do you live?
  4. I like what you did . Im the same way to save a buck, but also the satisfaction of it. When people come up to you and say did you do that. It is very hard not to smile and puff the chest a little bit and proudly say yes I did. Keep up the good work.Kevin
  5. looks awesome we will see you in Detroit.
  6. Thanks for your input. I think I have found a very nice 20 foot with the 9900# rating. I think last year I had told everyone I was going to drive my 28 vic 6 sedan to Detroit meet. Well not to be . I will be trailering. The marriage will last longer that way. I do get my way sometimes. Im going to get a trailer out of the deal which I have wanted for a while. It is the car that is all important right?
  7. Im looking at buying a enclosed car trailer. 20' or 24'? Give me your thoughts on this. We will be driving 2400 miles to the meet in Detroit next year . Yes I know bigger is better or is it.
  8. Keep it stock it will turn heads. I put a rhode island harness with turn signals built into it about 150.00 extra. Just follow all the tags and drawing they send great job. I also put a 3rd brake and turn signal unit in the back window. I like the safety factor. there are a lot of idiots out there. I was at a show 2 weeks ago and there was a 31 nash that was all original It was really cool to see that car like that.you will have a good time with this car. My 28 vic6 4 dr love it.
  9. Acklands grainger industrial supply or other company usually have catalogs with lots of different sizes
  10. Hi guys I call our car at times the ice cream car because it just can't drive by the Dairy Queen. we drive our DB all the time. Our local group id great we like to tour. today we called it the fall colours tour. there were only three cars but what the heck it was great. We had a 20 yr old and a17 yr old driving today so lets get thme interested. we go on 1000 mile tours as well over 7 days each spring. Did a 400 mile tour and a overnight in July. I did 2 car shows and 2 parades this year as this is the first year I have had the car finished after 6 year resto. I do also like the car as a people magnet in the parking lots of the grocery stores or gas stations. You can visit and talk about the history and hopefully get them interested in the hobby. Today we stopped for lunch after the tour. Our friends where there with there parents 53rd wedding anniversary. I took them for a little spin. I was traveling on a main street at 30 mph and this guy pulls out from a stop sign and hits me in the back left fender with his jacked up full size 4x4. His big steel bumper opened up my fender like a can opener . Every body is ok but poor MIss Vicky now has a war wound. I was not pleased of course but I though there was going to be more damage. Now will i still drive our lovely car ? You bet we will. We are planning on driving to Detroit in 2014 - 2500miles one way. It is the journey not the destination. Happy motoring Kevin
  11. Hi Ray On my 28 victory I have the Stewart vac tank. I had a few issues with the float sinking. I had the por 15 tank sealer left over from my tank( which worked great) The float fits just in side the litre can and I dipped that in and It has been good now for about 3 months. We have pulled some good hills in B.C. going from 1800 ft to 4500 ft . over 50 miles. I did get some vapour lock on the last long hill but it was 29c and it was a 5 mile long climb. As soon as we went down the other side it ran good again. I was in third most of the time but a few times into second. Went for a fall tour today for about an hours drive it was amazing all the colours. Good luck on the tank. They do work well. Kevin
  12. I did RI and it fit like a glove. I had them put in the turn signals as well and again works great. that is all on my 28 victory 6 sedan.
  13. This is a mural that has been painted in our town. We now have 10. They really look good and spruce up the buildings. Thought I would share this with all of you car nuts. Kevin
  14. Hi L Taylor I bought mine from Meyers early dodge parts. the front ones worked fine. The rear ones broke when my latch did not hold the door closed and it slamed into my fender while driving down the street. Big tears but big boys don,t cry the make ther own strap. What I use was a belting material that I got from a plywood plant. It is very strong and I no it will not break. So you may find some in your area from some sort of factory. Kevin
  15. Your tannys are for victory 6 and the other is the bell houseing for your clutch as your 2 pedals are on the same shaft
  16. I finally had a nice day and got some good shots of the car for all to see. These are the shots I had to take for the insurance company so I can get my collector plate. Ive been to 2 car shows and placed 1st for participants choice in a pre 49 class of 30 cars hot rod and originals. Peoples choice in our vintage clubs pre fathers day bbq. unexpected but wow thats the icing on the cake for all the long hours of tinkering which I like to do. Happy motoring and tinkering. Kevin
  17. Hi John feels like your alittle kid again doesn't it? I have been on the road for about 2 weeks now and I go get quart of milk every chance I get. Lets keep all the DBs alive. Kevin
  18. Thanks for all the comments. Ray you said it I was on top of the world. Now that I have driven the 28 I will have to wait now for about 4 months until spring really hits. I think that will be harder than I thought. I still have the inside door panels and some trim yet to keep me busy. Bumpers to go to the platers for nickel. Tighten polish look at start, sit in and dream. Happy restoreing or preserving.
  19. can someone help me with pics I have done this before. Browse upload then what?
  20. sorry about the pics here you go
  21. Hi Everone Happy New Year Had to share this with all of you out there in Db land. I have been working on this 1928 victory 6 - 4 door for just over 5 years. On dec 31 i put a 2 day permit on it. I had the week off before Christmas. So as the wife was at work I was in the man cave going crazy. As I am in central British Columbia Canada it is winter here . I have been watching the forcast good no snow temp. -4 c also good. Turnsignals brake lights good. Gas yes Friday the 3oth Plan is working out good. Get temp insurance good. Wife of to work on the 31st plan is still working no snow -5 good. How about I take you out for lunch today honey? Okay she said yes plan still good. take the car out for the first time around neighborhood. Runs FANTASTIC!! Can hardly wait till noon. 5 mins to the Store. take the long way. Get to the store parking spot right if front YES. Slowly walk in very cool like nothing is going on I think Im going to Explode. Hi how are ya great I say . Are you ready Honey okay she says and I guess we will walk to the cafe she said. nnoottt. I said look what I drove down and held the Db key tag up. No you didn't she said then she saw it. Tears yesss. What a thrill to drive that old car. I hope this will inspire some and bring back memories to others. Few pics of our day. You can see the snow in the back ground of some and the roads where clear all the way. I also took my 85 yr old Brother in law for a drive. He could not get the smile off his face Well neither could I. Happy Motoring
  22. Hi Classic girl I guess since I am just finishing my car I may be able to shed some light. I took every thing off the frame and had a guy blast for me. It is much lighter and easier to turn the frame and get in every little spot. the front and rear axles can then be done in small parts which is easy to do yourself. I have a cabinet for all the small stuff. when I did the fenders and body I did it at my shop. I makes a big mess so you will want to do that outside. I put a plastic tarp in my utility trailer and was able to catch alot and reuse. But when I did the body parts I had my own beach on the drive way which I sweep up later. You will get a much better job If you disassemble. You will also need a big compressor that will maintain 80 - 90 psi for blasting as it does use alot of air. Here are some pics Kevin
  23. I have a 28 Victory 6 that has one. And it does have 4 wheel brakes. I think it was to tell all those other cars that we can stop faster than you haha.
