  1. after 3 days and roughly 30 hours, I am done...good thing is, I dont have to do this for another 30 years...
  2. got the heaterbox back in...hope I used the correct side of the gasket for the ac..also...there is one plug on the heaterbox that has no corresponding match! did I miss anything? so far, I was not able to get the middle console plastic part in...so after 2 days, I am not done yet...
  3. Bill! Hemi! Too late...I left the seats in ...started at 3:30pm until midnight...and the box is out, new core is in..and tomorrow, I will put everything back into the TC... it really is a pita! old core was clearly leaking....I am concerned about the evaporator...there is a little rust on the left side ( facing the core side) and nothing on the right...I suppose, it could be a little rusty from the leaking core....anyway, I did not order a new one at rockauto and I just want to get it over with.... there were lots of things that did not come apart easily.....and I hope to get it back together a little faster....
  4. Ok...biting the bullet...any particular hints on heater core replacement? I know its a pita job and I have to do it by myself ( no wingman) and I guess I could do it in 20 hours. got the heater core replacement from rockauto and sound dampening mats ( 2mm) are ready to be installed where insulation is brittle and unusable. how many screws? 278? did anyone do this alone also? seats out?
  5. here's a dumb question...do all V6 have the 41TE Transmission? and do all V6 have a fluid capacity of 9 liters for their transmission? ( 9.5 quarts) the A413 states 8liters ( 8.5 quarts)
  6. all done..both sides were completely shot. was easy to get them out...now zero wobble
  7. level was low - had to add another quart. now it looks like everything is back to normal! I might have to re seal the rear cover since its still leaking a little ATF....( may have waited too long for it to dry a little before putting the cover back on and hand tighted the screws - about 15 minutes)
  8. Hey Reaper! I let the Black RTV dry for a while - it also took forever to apply it carefully. I did not tighten it up yet ( a little more than hand tight) , I will let it sit like this for 9 hours..then I will appply more pressure and fill it up with ATF4 . It says torque is 165! for the pan and I could not find any numbers for the rear cover. Fluid was red ( a little darker) did not smell burned, no bubbles, did not spot any shaved metal parts, nothing on the magnet, nothing at the sensors ( cleaned them anyways) killed the new O ring when I tried to make the new filter stick...so I had to use the old one...( I know!!!!) filter only really snapped in at one of the plastic pins..( it stayed in place though) I hope I will not have any more shifting issues after this job... 10 hours later - refilled with 4 quarts of ATF+, idle for a minute, shift through all gears and it does not engage into any gear! fluid is bubbly. no leaks, no noise, sounds normal. will check level again and see if it needs more fluid.
  9. that should do it, I suppose.... ( did not know that silicone sealer is actually better than gaskets )
  10. great...wanted to change the rear transmission cover gasket, removed it and found out that it does not fit! so I decided to go for the filter and transmission pan gasket...also both are not a fit! very upsetting since I ordered the parts from rockauto in my specific 1990 TC section...
  11. Thanks Hemi, will try... I just cant believe I drove it with low fluid for a while ; since it does not smell burned or makes grinding noises, I might be lucky if I did not really create internal damage. will try to check the codes..
  12. of course, it never ends... noticed a slight leak at transaxle rear end cover ( due to a high pressure undercarriage cleaning by "specialists) Did not even use the kickdown in months...just drove it very easy and did not race it. as of today, there was a little clunk when accelerating twice...and it did not shift from 2nd to 3rd. Drove home right away. Fluid was low, ( did not smell burned, no bubbles, normal red color) topped it off with Mopar ATF 4. Trans was changed by previous owner in 2011. Did I kill it? I hope not...
  13. Hemi! Reaper! as usual - thanks for your fantastic help! I ordered the wheel bearings and seals at rockauto....and I am confused..because I received 3 are the same, 1 is smaller... are the inner and outer bearings the same size? ( I guess not) also, I need to replace both outer tie rod ends including inner ends....( that should be a poc plus getting an alignment afterwards) anything I should keep in mind doing this?
  14. was looking for any clues in our forum but could not find any. ordered rear bearings for both sides on rockauto; do it myself? or get it done? ( never changed bearings before) ideas?!
  15. thanks reaper!thanks hemi! I let you know the outcome!
  16. Thanks Reaper! can you think of any equivalent in terms of shape? which is compliant with EU guidelines?
  17. Hi fellas! here's a good one....The original Headlights were made in italy but they do not have the much needed EU sign to make them street legal in germany...( yeah I know) I came across this one here ( which has the required stamp ) either this one https://www.ebay.de/itm/Scheinwerfer-Headlight-Leuchte-Hauptscheinwerfer-links-PONTIAC-TRANS-SPORT-V6-V8/272424694664?hash=item3f6dc6f388:g:UKMAAOSwB09YDe8x or this one https://www.ebay.de/itm/16516400-Frontscheinwerfer-Scheinwerfer-RECHTS-PONTIAC-TRANSPORTER-BJ-1994/282955648882?hash=item41e1788f72:g:CsgAAOSwGx1Z0~S6 wondering if they would somehow fit our TC!!! any thoughts?
  18. I bought this one https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=1871698&cc=1398810&jsn=14 I am sure its the correct rotation...
  19. thanks reaper! I just installed an external thermostat and will test it out later today. it is indeed overheating..

  21. I drove this TC for 5 years..kept throwing parts at it..everything is new or replaced...even did the valve job, water pump, timing belt 2 weeks ago..new sensors all around...put new lower control arms in last week, also 4 new bf goodrich performance tires... the fan runs when hooked up,, temp sensor is new...relay is new...it still does not work...I checked every goddam cable...and today, after driving for 20 minutes ( isolated the broken heater core yesterday) the temp went up again..it was not even 1 minute and I pulled over and let it cool off for 45 min, then drive 1,2 miles home..I figured out everything on this car, and I am not able to find out what the hell is causing the fan not to kick in.. Somebody should buy it ASAP 6600 and its yours. I mean it
  22. accumulator might be out again after 10 years...check relays at front right fender well also
  23. ac not operable...also, I now have a heater core thats leaking...seems like the more I fix on this car, the more issues appear... will check all connections again.
