  1. Just like auto insurance, property policies vary greatly from structure to structure and from state to state. Don’t assume anything .
  2. I don’t know if this is the exact one I bought, but this is what I replaced. . I replaced the sockets with ones like these and just connected the wires.
  3. As some else mentioned, I, too, have never changed the power steering fluid in anything I have ever owned. Never had an issue at all. It’s just not something I was raised to do or think about. No leaks, it stays full. I drive.
  4. I ended up just getting new ones at my local auto parts store.
  5. Ha! I use tires as a measurement of when i have too much going on. Right now, I have 26 that can go flat at any time 😆
  6. Sounds to me like they have realized selling a car titled in a deceased person's name it not fun, and they are taking it out on potential buyers.
  7. 1. Different title brands mean different things in different states. Even within states there is often inconsistent titling practices within counties. The only way to know what any specific car’s title means is to research that car. Could be wrecked and rebuilt, could be a recovered theft, could be a flood, could be a constructive total loss with little actual damage, etc. 2. Many dealers are able to sell branded title cars right now for the same price as clean title cars. There are no used cars available to stock their lots. The demand is simply overwhelming and people are paying.
  8. All of the talent, determination, and honesty in this thread is what keeps me reading. Matt, you clearly have all 3. I don’t know the first thing about this car or these engines, other than what has transpired here. I continue to read and follow intently.
  9. There are certain post offices around the country that are inept. Just like any other business, some locations are poorly run. If a package is routed through one of these locations, then mysterious things happen.
  10. My restored 6v heater blows pretty good in my car. Certainly not like anything new, but I was pleased to see what it could do for a little thing. I have no idea how it would compare to another one that may not be restored or working optimally..
  11. I do it similar here in Kentucky— I keep it 55 in the winter and 85 in the summer, 50% humidity set. I can always turn it up or down if desired when I’m out there all day. 😀 I keep the house at 78 in the summer and 68 in the winter to keep bills down.
  12. I would fix it too if I were you. It seems just a matter of finalizing the numbers at this point.
  13. This correct. KY just changed their laws a couple of years ago and now we require a salvage title on buybacks. This is certainly a state by state issue. If you are dealing with a national carrier, they may require it regardless.
  14. I’m an auto (and property) insurance adjuster. Every state is different. Every claim is different. Every insurer is different in their philosophy. I’m glad I work where I do. I’m allowed to do what’s right. I enjoy claims where people love their paid-for cars. Those people and I are one and the same.
  15. My car parks flat at the bottom. My parts car also did. I don’t know if that’s right, just my experience.
  16. My first car, 1988 S-10 Blazer, crank broke in half while cruising down the highway at 60 mph. This was around 1998. In fairness, it did have over 200k on the original engine, and I drove it hard when I was young, so it was due for a problem. It's odd though that the crank broke in a 135 HP vehicle. Dad was a drag racer in the 1970's and couldn't believe that was what actually broke. We bought a new crate 3/36,000 2.8L from the local dealer for $1500 and installed it the next day. Ended up with 275k miles on the vehicle before I sold it in 2003. It still ran good, but was succumbing to really bad rocker rust.
  17. I always put large tarps under and around my work area about 10-15 ft out and swept up and reused the media that way. I could reuse it 3-4 times usually before it became too contaminated that it wasn't worth fighting to get through the nozzle.
  18. eBay also lost lots of sellers when, in order to sell, you had to link your bank account with your account. I still have lots of good 1939 parts that I took down because of this. If you learn how to search effectively, using some of the tips in the of the previous posts, you can get good results.
  19. I just imagine a scene where everybody who is following this, all the obvious experts who really know how to troubleshoot and fix things, and others like me just love to learn and see success, all show up at Matt’s place and get this car going for him—while he rests and only has the responsibility of relaxing and smiling. I’m certainly not the mechanic in the situation, but I can fetch tools, snacks, and drinks. We all want this to work so darn bad.
  20. Again, every state has a different way of claims handling and coverage. Some states allow carriers to increase rates on people for filing any claim. If a carrier thinks you are using them to avoid dealing with it yourself, they can raise your rates. Often they don’t get back what they give you. The at fault carrier can find ways out of paying in full, or at all. If they don’t get their money back, then you can be penalized. The worst can be when you file a claim that seems to not be your fault, and then actually have one the next month that is. The sudden frequency can get you cancelled in some states. That’s not fun when you try shopping for new coverage. It’s different in every state.
  21. 2009 Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe, with the added GMPP package, 290/360 in a barely 3000 lb car. It's not the fastest thing on the road, but it scoots pretty good. It's a rare car that GM only made 1266 copies of before shutting down Pontiac. I saw a photo of one online last year and had to have one.
