  1. I’m hoping that someone out there can help me with an interesting dilemma. I am trying to research a 1909-11 Bailey Electric Victoria Phaeton: Serial # 178 GE Motor #212082 Meter #39677 The trail stops in 1985 when it was purchased at a foreclosure auction. That person cannot recall who the former owner was because they dealt with only the bank. Can anybody recall an auto museum opening in the early 80s in the Niagara Falls area? It must have gone under in late 84 or early 85. Does anybody recall the owner of a failing auto museum in that area? Interestingly, there was a Bailey just like ours in the Henry Ford Collection for many years which was sold in 1981. The HFC never documented the serial number and will not tell me who purchased it, so I am forced to trace backwards. I only have 4 years to track, if it ends up being the one that was in the HFC. The reason we are so anxious to find that the trail stops there is that Mr.Bailey donated it himself and authenticated it as being the test car that Edison used while developing his car battery products. So you can see how important it is to find out the truth. We are planning a wonderful electric car display in our up-coming museum here in Houston with lots of Edison treasures, so to say we have the test car would be fantastic. Unfortunately, I can find nothing where the serial # was documented either by Bailey or Edison(Rutgers Univ. Edison Archives). Perhaps a reader will know of someone, who purchased the Bailey back in 81 from the HFC. I realize these questions are real shots in the dark, but I thought I would try anyway. Perhaps someone knows, someone, who knows someone in that area. You never know until you ask. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, O'Quinn Archivist
