  1. Howdy, Does anyone know of a retrofit cable throttle pedal that would work in the 1st Gen Rivieras? Right now I have my cable setup using a cable clamp on the arm and a stud attached to it. Adjustable yes; longterm usable, not really. Thanks,
  2. Also one in front of the door on the underside of the car.
  3. Dang it! I could have used that so I didn't hole saw my inner fender to put the hole in the firewall to pass the EFI harness through! I thought they were welded on.
  4. Mine is around 0.5in above the ashtray door on the center console below the HVAC panel on my '64.
  5. Sidewall bulge will have an effect on the way the tire fits. An 18in tire might have more bulge than a 17in one. My "stock" 225/75R15's on stock steel wheels do definately rub the frame at full lock and I think the bulge in the sidewall has a lot to do with that. Next set of wheels I'm getting will have 2.5in vs 2.375in backspacing.
  6. Haven't we agreed that a 17x8 is the biggest that will fit the front without rubbing at a lowered ride height? http://forums.aaca.org/f177/17x8in-wheels-64-riviera-259824.html The previously mentioned post.
  7. Think we could make weld on bracket kits for those wanting different axles? I'm simularly going to change rear axles but probably to GM 8.5in 10-bolt out of a 90's B-body.
  8. Is the PCV setup still functional? It screws into the back of the carb then has a hose running off of the metal line. It is originally a breather and it's the inlet for the PCV system.
  9. The '64 solution was a cable like mentioned above from the power steering pump bracket bolt to the upper A-arm cross shaft with around 1/4in play in it normally, the engine won't go far with that on there and if you have a fan shroud you'd definately hear it chew on the shroud as its pretty tight fitting.
  10. If the valley pan has been replaced there might not be seals on the bolts. Mine does that.
  11. I am also happy with my CARS fan shroud, took some fiddling to get it to keep from hitting the fan blades but it fits tight to the blades and I know its helping. Honestly the only thing keeping the car in running temps after the first pump puked iron and aluminum flakes into the cooling system 1000 miles from home.
  12. It just screws to the door as best I remember it when I installed one on the passengers side of my '64. I used a hole saw and a drill to cut the hole. I suggest going from the outside of the panel through as it'll mess the wood up less and has more recognizable landmarks.
  13. Anyone make the parking brake release tab or know how to get it off?
  14. I do believe they are all the same. Only difference I know of between the 63-65 suspensions is the wheel hubs are smaller on the '65. Spindles changed in '66-70 but I am soon to test the interchangability of them on my '64 since the later spindles leave more options for custom caliper mounts without messing with the steering arms.
  15. I was very happy with a pair of Magnaflows about 8in behind the tips on my '64 but I cut a TA kit to pieces and spliced in new pipe to do it. I believe a 2nd Gen Camaro crossflow is the application you're looking for and you'll just have to either upgrade the pipes or use some adapters.
  16. I honestly just like going by CTX or Sleeper, I really only put my name on PM's. Call it a quirk but I like it that way. On a thread I just remember people screenname not thier real names if even known. I'll be sure to point that out to the shop when they do the alignment.
  17. Got to love Steve Strope. Thanks for the info Ed! I know the ball joints match so I'm hoping with the right Riv steering arms (current ones are Wildcat) this won't affect my bumpsteer or other performance capabilities. I'll be carrying over as much of this setup as possible if I build an upgraded chassis for it in the future. Why I want bigger disks? 1. Too much braking power is rarely a bad thing if properly balanced 2. Bigger wheels look stupid without decent sized rotors under them 3. I have a complete 94 Impala SS (Caprice 9C1) ABS setup that's awaiting integration 4. The car is an expression of my engineering desires and capabilities 5. I don't like sliding caliper brakes so I'm putting on 4 piston fixed 6. What if I do want to be able to brake hard into corners repeatedly?
  18. Bringing this back up again. Any idea if you can use 2nd Gen (66-70) spindles on a 1st Gen (63-65) Riviera?
  19. I am extremely pleased with my Carmen Faso gasket and heatsheild! Been lucky enought to be able to reuse both once and the heatsheild twice as I've messed with various things on my Nailhead.
  20. Howdy, Well I have a beautiful set of Clark's Corvair's kickpanels for my Riv but of course I have to put the vent grills on. Any suggestions on how to get them off of the old panels and onto the new ones without mangling either? Thanks,
  21. Didn't GM put ABS on some '67 Rivieras and Tornados?
  22. You'll have to cut the firewall to get it out that way. The proper though extremely more labor involved way is to basically pull most of the interior out and pull the backside of the ducting off of the heater system and get it out that way. My '64 is hacked from a previous owner doing the heater core through the engine bay, it takes a good coat of RTV to get the box to seal anymore due to the metal of both the cover and the firewall being so warped.
  23. I have one in good shape with the filler neck. I've not quite decided to sell it yet but as I've already notched the frame to fit a late model EFI tank its become more tempting as going back to a carb would only require a change of fuelpump or deletion of the pump and a splice of hose in its stead. What would you pay for it?
  24. Yes you can mount the drivers mirror on the passengers side by rotating the basket that the mirror mechanism mounts in. The way I mounted mine was to make a transfer template out of poster board with the 3 mount holes in it aligned to the edge of the door. I then drilled the passengers door skin for the mirror mounts and the cable. I made a simular template for the location of the interior joystick. The only problem with this method is like mentioned earlier that if you mount the passengers mirror in the identical location to the drivers you can't see it because of the vent window frame. I knew this but wanted to add balance to the car. Remember that a passengers rearview was an option on many car up until the mid 80's. My boss had an 84 Ford LTD with only the drivers side from the factory and I know I've seen super low buck import Honda's and Nissan's from even later in the 80's with only 1.
  25. My 70 had factory belts but they were attached all the way back by the C-pillar. I'd be worried about adding something with that kind of load to it just to the roof rail without somesort of additional reinforcement.
