  1. First take a close look at the photo and see if you can determine if there's anything unusual regarding either the 1915 Mercer or the dog.... According to The Old Motor | Old car photos , Old Cars For sale, Classic Cars, antique cars the dog has "three eyes and two noses." I showed it to my wife and she thinks it's fake. What do you guys think?
  2. Are you familiar with V8Buick.com ? Those guys should be able to help you out. Good luck....
  3. I've heard a lot of good things about him too. When he first moved to the L. A. area from Mass. he had to sleep in his car-an old Buick-due to lack of funds. I think he still has the car and that it has been restored or customized....
  4. How are you doing today, Todd? I have 240 points which obviously isn't going to win me anything except maybe some sympathy from other bidders....
  5. That '55 Sunliner for $34K was a good buy in my opinion. I bid $45K so I guess I was too optimistic....
  6. Thank you. He had been in a facility for people with Alzheimer's for the last couple of years and was miserable so now he's back together with my mother, who died of breast cancer 15 years ago next month. He was an old car guy too, having owned a '55 T-Bird, '62 Skylark, '65 Corvette, and '71 VW convertible at different times over the last 30 years....
  7. Thank you. I bid $27K on the Galaxie and it went for $20K. I had too many other things going on to be able to concentrate. I'm going to miss a lot of it tomorrow too so good luck to you....
  8. I got the '71 Chevelle right on the money at $35K for 100 points so I'm off to a good start today. This is a great stress reliever considering the horrible news I got at 7:30 this morning that my father had passed away overnight at the age of 84.... :(
  9. I was over on all three. That '56 Dodge for $23K also looked like a pretty good deal. I need to remember that this is Thursday afternoon and not Saturday night and lower my fantasy bids....
  10. It was a '63 Avanti that went for $21,500. That '48 Roadmaster that just sold for $18K looked like a pretty good buy....
  11. This time it's in Palm Beach, Florida. It's on the Speed Channel today and tomorrow from 2-8 PM EDT and Saturday from 11 AM to 8 PM. They have the Fantasy Bid too so check it out if you want. By the way, this thread is for people with positive comments regarding the auction so if you want to criticize it you can start your own thread....
  12. Check out V8Buick.com because those guys will definitely be able to help you. Good luck....
  13. I remember that story. She told the writer that she carried a loaded pistol under her seat. Hopefully someone will remove it from the car and unload it....
  14. My mom died from breast cancer 15 years ago and I currently have a 14 year old nephew with cancer so that's great that you're helping out cancer patients. That video of the drag race with the '69 Camaro was pretty cool. Thanks for posting it....
  15. Don't feel bad. I've been stranded here since 1998....
  16. It looks like the suspension is in pretty poor shape....
  17. Usted tiene mas cuadros? Quantos?
  18. Donde esta the front bumper and grille?
  19. You have the same description for this Benz as the '65. This one is obviously blue with an automatic. Have you driven either Benz out on the highway at 60-70 mph? If so how did they drive?
  20. I think the purpose of the show is to raise money for their club and that anyone who showed up in a car that's 1972 or older would be admitted with no problem....
  21. Why not just put the top down and leave it down until September or October? I put mine down a couple of weeks ago and won't put it up for several months unless I happen to get caught out in a storm which is unlikely....
  22. In Kentucky there are no smog tests or inspections of any kind. Antique plates never expire and have an annual "property tax" of approx. 68 cents. I've owned at least a dozen cars with antique plates since I moved here in 1998 and I drive them whenever I feel like it and have never been pulled over or hassled by the police. My daily driver is an '86 Buick which has antique plates on it and my '61 Merc obviously has antique plates on it too. When you get the plates they assume that all old cars have a value of $100 so you pay $6 tax plus the fee for the plates. It doesn't make any difference if you paid $100K or $500 for the car-they value it at $100 for licensing purposes. I lived in California from 1977-98 and owned a few antique cars there and this is obviously a MUCH better system than theirs. I don't know where the regulations are for antique plates in Kentucky or I would post a link to them here....
  23. 1. Sell it. 2. Move. 3. Buy a Camry or Accord. Problem solved....
  24. If it was mine I would wash it, try to get it running, and remove those hideous aftermarket horns from the sides of the hood. A clean, running car is worth more than a dirty, non-running one. As you probably already know, a 4 door is usually worth less than a 2 door. I would think it's worth about $3K as it sits right now. Good luck....
