  1. Brilliant idea saves me looking. Can you explain why the hole is sized smaller in the intake line? When I am better Iwill do it.
  2. Thanks Tom. will try and find one to attach to the inlet port.
  3. Looking for air cleaner parts, in particular the upper lid material mine has deteriorated to the point of no return. Who sells them or what is an alternative material I could use. Needs to be fire proof. Thanks
  4. Should the main line to the oil filter have an orifice to reduce the oil flow? laid up again so I read articles, some say if you block the main line at the filter, you could increase the oil pressure.t
  5. Found the process on UTube, neat idea. Thanks guys.
  6. Thanks, Lee and Jon, Jon could explain the propane set up I am not understanding the process. I think my idle may be high will go back and try again.
  7. I cannot get any adjustment on my two idle mixture screws; carb was just rebuilt by a rebuttable source. Was trying to increase my vacuum which is around 15. Installed a new manifold gasket and manifold. Any suggestions on how I can find a possible vac leak. Called the rebuilder and he say's I should be able to kill the engine by turning both screws in and with this still no change. Car idles and runs and still stumbles. 56 H engine
  8. Thanks' Ray and JF. I was able to drill and tap both sides of the knob and shaft switch, it was tough. The handle is stainless which was the most difficult, the bit slid all over the place while starting but in the end, I managed to get some 6/32 threads in place. Will use a bit of JB well to fill the wallowed-out part on the switch.
  9. My switch handle broke, how difficult would it be to get at the mechanism inside the steering column to replace this part? Or am I better to drill to out and tap ne threads on both parts?
  10. Ray, you may be right. I thought the original cap would be removed and a new cap with the rubber hose adapter would clear the opening. I will check further and with the hose it would be under no pressure. Still sounds ok to me, eliminates pulling up the carpet and possibly messing it up. just messing with the idea.
  11. Wondering if anyone has installed a remote reservoir, it seems like a good idea. Just a thought
  12. Thanks' Tom, they are currently unavailable so will have to wait and see if they make them again, my existing one is 5.5 lbs a little too strong for the carburetor. I will just have to learn to ease up on the primming. Messed up my float setting.
  13. Thinking of installing a fuel regulator, the higher pressure changed my float setting previously. Can I install one under the car next to the electric pump yet before the mechanical pump? Used only for priming. Also is the Holley brand any good, seems to have a few negative reviews?

  15. Thanks Tom I have not tried to start the car because of the low voltage. Do not have time to play with it now but will try to start it soon, will let you know. New Autolite plugs. Skip was saying the new resistors are sometimes poorly made.
  16. Still cannot get over 2.80 volts at the coil, Coil has been rebuilt by skip. I hooked up new resisters and still the same. I bypassed everything and went straight to the battery still nothing improves. Ordered new resistors from Chris and will try again, any thoughts. Also new condensers from Jerry Paul Thanks
  17. Thanks Rudy, I purchased my replacement from Chris at Boos Herrel. Will repair the old one as it can be saved.
  18. Thanks Larry I purchased a new one from Chris, and it is in very good condition, however the same plugged ports exist so I did some checking, and it is very common, the consensus is that it harms nothing. I was thinking of jb weld to close the ports and will possibly do it. Prefer not to have the carbon fall into the valley.
  19. Do I need to replace my intake manifold, one spot looks like it will possibly burn through in time. Are weld repairs suitable these manifolds and if so, what are the precautions welders need to know? I took these out of my engine today, only cleaned where it looks bad. New ones are expensive. Willing to purchase a good used one if price is right.
  20. Thanks Ray and Tom, I am getting Jerry to rebuild my carb and ordering new terminal plates and condensers. While this is being done, I will check my fuel lines, filter and compression. Ken checked the distributer and timed it as well, so I will only have the coil to check. Coil appears fine as all plugs have good blue spark. It was disappointing as I had a slot for upholstery next week.
  21. While going down the road the car stumbles at around 30mph, checked for spark and all was ok. Checked all the plugs and they were all showing signs of too much fuel (rich). all black. Cleaned up everything. Does the vacuum advance have any effect? Also, now my idle adjustment does nothing to the engine. Carb kit was installed a couple of years ago. Starts good. electrical seems ok What am I missing?
  22. Thanks everyone Have a call into Brad re bushing he is still looking for them. Definitely will try and get the back issues Stopped my membership in the 1984, had to raise a family
  23. Thanks' Ralph So, if I were to aim the hole to the rear of the block, I should be ok. i am assuming the oil comes from the pump which is in the rear
  24. Now I am confused, which one is correct
  25. Can someone explain how the rod gets lubricated, I replaced the original metal plug in the hole with the new brass sleeve and was just wondering
