  1. Yes, It worked out pretty close to BJM's estimate. I had over 100 watchers and a few late to the game who wished they had financing lined up. Of course you always get more interest after its sold. I just had one of the eBay bidders offer me 10K if I could wait until he confirmed with his bank and if the winning deal falls through. I don't think it will. The winner sent a message and we spoke before the end of the auction so I'm fairly certain he's all in. Plus I think he's buying it for his wife who is retiring one with 197K miles. So I guess this one won't be sitting in a collectors garage. Thanks to everyone for all your help. Thanks also to 65gs76limited who I guess has learned that you can polish a turd. But he shouldn't feel bad, he was only off by 5K.
  2. The auction is closing today and the bid price has moved a little in the past 24 hours. Lots of watchers and still priced in line with some estimates here.
  3. Thanks for the nice comments. Those are just a few of the custom projects that I have sold. I just sold another Pearl White SRV very similar to that one and I have another one on the bench waiting for another owner. It's a fun hobby and I too wish I could play more than I have time for. I'm still looking underneath beds for that early 60's Strat myself. That would be at the top of the wish list. I'm just about 20 years too late to get a price I can afford for one.
  4. Thanks very much for the kind comments. I did spend a lot of time putting this all together. I sell custom guitars on eBay so I'm sort of used to documenting projects and taking lots of photos. I've learned that the better the photos and the description the better the bids. I do appreciate as well the estimate of value as I used that in determining pricing for the auction. It seems to be moving along right in that range. But I have more watchers for this auction than I have had for any other auction I've had before and there still is 3 days left. I did want to post that the car was in for the paintless dent removal and then the final exterior detail. I had them do the engine compartment while they were at it. Here are two shots and they also have been posted on my PictureTrail site. The first one shows the side angle of the repair. It's really hard to see but if you look at the reflection of the tree in the fender its near the top right of the tree. There was a small dimple left as the paint was slightly fractured where whatever struck the fender left a mark at impact. They told me that they didn't want to push further as that may have cracked the paint and I didn't want to lose the integrity of the original paint. It now looks like a small parking lot ding but in a weird place. The next owner can leave it alone or do a repair if they intend on keeping it low miles and collectible. Here's a closer shot. You have to look close but you can see the dimple as it looks like a spider crack. From 5 feet away it's barely noticeable and the size is about the size of a large pencil eraser. Overall I was very happy with how it came out. I would say it's 98% pushed back out. It also was clay buffed, polished and waxed and its smooth as a baby's behind now. The guys who detailed it said it looks like a new car demo, just stuck in a 1997 time warp. Here's a link for the whole Picture Album in case. Riviera Pictures Page
  5. Yes, the turd made it to 7K in less than 24 hours. I see that Mr. Turd is noticeably absent since his prophetic remarks. Maybe he is out taking spelling lessons or attempting to remove his foot from his mouth. I am very encouraged about the quick movement. For my Mother-In-Law's sake I hope it moves a little more. Every little bit helps. I would have loved to keep the car and I'm afraid that you may be right that I regret one day letting it go. But I think this one will go to a Buick lover and collector, so I feel that it probably will stay the same for a while. It's funny how people can get so connected to a car. I remember helping her buy this car and picking it up the day it was delivered to the showroom. It seems so long ago. Times have definitely changed during that time. Another piece of our past goes by.
  6. For Sale is a 1997 Buick Riviera in original one owner condition. The car has 9,961 original miles and was purchased brand new by my 90 year old Mother-In-Law who I am selling this car for. The link below lists many of the options available on the car. It's a non supercharged 3.L V6 with no sunroof. The car will be listed on eBay but I'm always open to listen as it seems difficult to peg a value on this very low mileage car. The car will be going in for a complete exterior clay buffing/polishing/wax detail on Tuesday and on Monday it will go in for paintless dent repair to fix the small dent on the front passenger fender. Here is a link for a bunch of photos that I have posted. 1997 Riviera Photos And some quick shots

  8. Thanks for the great suggestions. I made an appointment to get the dent pushed out on Monday and then the car goes over for a complete exterior detail on Tuesday. I am working on getting pictures posted to Picture Trail and hope to be able to give you all a link soon.
  9. Hey, if you don't have anything nice to say then why don't you just keep it to yourself. I'm asking for opinions not criticism. I don't know what a 9600 mile Buick is worth and I don't believe that the Edmunds web site takes into consideration miles that low and the current economy so get off my nuts. I am sure it's worth more than the 2800.00 that Edmunds says it is. I looked that up upon the suggestion from an earlier poster. So as not to cause you any more discomfort in reading my thread or looking at my photos, you can just refrain from returning here. You have to have something better to do than to invoke your disdain on someone else's requests for information.
  10. Hi and thanks for the replies. Here are some more details. Color is Bright White, I think the proper Buick color for this is Taupe. It has dual front bucket seats in leather with heat. Lorraine was a non-smoker. It has the 3.8L non supercharged motor, no sunroof. No rust anywhere that I could see as it spent 99% of its life in a garage in Palatine Ill. It does have a baseball size dent in the front passenger fender from something that my departed Brother-In-Law dropped onto it. It appears that it could be repaired with a dentless repair and I've emailed a shop who never responded. I probably should look into getting that fixed. There are some light scratches around the license plate trunk area bumper probably from dragging something out of the car at one time or another. Tires are in great condition and I'm getting the info, as much as I can from a 90 year lady, as to what may have been repaired. As far as I know, it always went in for oil changes and nothing major ever was a problem and she was never in an accident. The car runs perfectly. Power everything, cruise, am/fm cassette CD, auto, air and would you believe, clear plastic floor mats over the carpeted mats. Original owners manual and there are the those dash tags still in the glove box. I don't see any door dings. Alloy wheels, look like new. I may not know Buicks so well, but I do know cars and this one is exceptional. If we didn't have a new 16 year old driver and a parking lot already, I'd keep it myself. For what Edmunds lists the car value I will. If I were to spend any money on this, I would fix the dent on the fender and get it buffed and waxed professionally. To my nose, it still smells new. I can get some photos but I guess I will have to get them on a hosting site as it doesn't appear that this site will host them for me. I'll take some better shots tomorrow and can send them to anyone who PM's.
  11. I am new to the forum and have been recently been given the task to sell my Mother-In-Laws car. She is 90 and up until recently her son who lived with her for the past 17 years drove her in this car until his recent passing. It is a 1997 Riviera, White with Tan Leather Non Supercharged with 9691 original miles. This truly was a car that was only driven to church by a little old lady on Sunday's. It's in excellent condition with one small dent on the passenger front fender caused by a garage accident. I have no idea on what the car may be valued at, and shy of letting it run on eBay I don't know where else that I may find a solid outlet to sell this for her. I am trying to get her the best money of course because she will need it to live off of. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
