  1. A friend sent me this. I thought it was pretty funny.
  2. Hah ! Good eye , and a sharp mind.
  3. Thank you Bob, My stove has the flat grates for burning wood.It also has a bit of history;used to belong to the niece of President Franklin Pierce. I bought it 35 years ago before the "fad" started. Ken
  4. Hi Phil, Here is a pic of mine .Hope that helps. Ken
  5. The guys with radiant floor heat are the winners. About 25 years ago I bought a used hot air furnace for $75 installed it myself , it's still going. Of course I can hardly afford any oil now, so I've installed my old favorite Glenwood.
  6. I spotted this photo on the H.A.M.B. website the other day, posted by swi66 on 7/7/2013 page 3738
  7. Not just scrap metal, new stock as well .My father was plant manager during the war.As I remember he said they had to inventory and turn in most of their stock of brass and copper. His eyesight kept him out of the service, though he tried to get in. The company went on to produce for the war. Ken
  8. Hello Andrew, It sounds like you are refering to p/n 752 the dash to rad. tie rod.? If I remember right you will need to loosen the rad. bolts then turn the rod into the rad. as far as it will go ,rock the rad. forward and hopefully the road will clear the dash. Ken
  9. Sorry to hear bad news. Please keep us posted on your progress . Good luck. Ken
  10. You might also consider reverse electrolysis . I've not used it myself but it sounds very effective. Good luck.
  11. David I think you should start a humor & upholstery forum. Perhaps a bit off topic , but do you know the ratio between an Igloo's circumference and it's radius ? That would be Eskimo Pi. Thank you for giving us all a chuckle. Ken
  12. I've never had to try it but someone told me years ago of wrapping a bungee cord around ( hooked back on itself) a drive shaft to balance it. Always wondered if that was for real . Ken
  13. Reminds me of the joke a skeleton that goes into a bar and asks for a beer and a mop.
  14. I spotted this in Vermont last week. It was love at first sight ! Looks like a thrill to drive. Ken
  15. I spotted this at the Steam Boat meet on Lake Winnipesauke .
  16. Thanks for the nice comments. Tom, I do not have an acetylene generator, maybe someday. Tom ,David,others..... you must have some pics from this summer's rides ? Ken
  17. Hi Tom, You may weaken the hubs if you remove the radius. The bearings ( and races ) for T's should fit with only the most modest adjustments. Ken
  18. Just to be clear , I was not suggesting that the cylinders be re- bored.Only that if they had been to double check the work. The radius I refered to is only to relieve stress at the end of the cut. Ken
  19. Very nice to hear Phil, While you have the jugs off you may want to have the bores checked by someone farmiliar with this type of work. Unless of course you know the work history. If the boring was done by a shop that only does modern engines they may not know to radius the end of the cut ( in a blind bore) . If not done there is a risk of cracking. take care, Ken
  20. Hi Phil , Maybe I should "bite my lip" here but I feel the intent of using the forum is to share.learn and hopefully add to the sum of human knowledge so I will politely proceed.Mostly due to the fact that race was made from unobtainum. Now it's in the trash. The method I suggested would have the race off and hopefully on your shelf or mine ( I would have offered a fair price) to be re-used in another Hupp. I hope you don't feel I stepped on your toes, and I hope to continue to be helpful in the future. Ken
  21. Phil, I stopped by Ted's this morning ,his T engine is on the floor in the (non) "operating room " looks like the same size ports . They should fit. Ted has a two part crankshaft! Ken
  22. I had help with a friend ,small chain falls, wasn't too awful. Here is a pic of the type of ring compressor we used Lisle tools (wrinkle band ). But I also liked Edgar's zip ties. Ken
  23. The parts book refers to 4 ex. header gaskets 6 centering rings , and 2 intake header gaskets. If no one answers your question here just call Lang's Old car parts Lang's Old Car Parts - Model T Parts Specialists I'm sure they will measure one for you . Photo shows header with and with out centering rings Ken
  24. Aw shucks David , you're too kind. In reality it's more like I've had my share of troubles! I think I've sloved them( for the most part, maybe , not too sure just yet). Edgar, you mentioned your clutch is one without the adjustors, mine is also. I think that might be part of the "judder" you are feeling. I believe the spring alignment was part of my problem, the ends are not ground square to the axis as you might find with a more modern spring. My theory was that forced the clutch hub out of alignment as it slides on the shaft, thus causing the grabbing or juddering. When I had it out I also found too much wear in the forward bushing inside the clutch hub and renewed that as well as the ball throw out bearing. Jumping out of gear does sound like a few adjustments as David mentioned. Hope you find the info helpful, Ken
