Love to hear about other Whippet's.
Can't wait to see a photo or two.
Whippets were manufactured from 1927 through 1931 in both 4 and 6 cylinder engines.

Great commercial.
Another great commercial is from Mondello Park in Ireland. My wife bought me vouchers for their 'drifting class' and as soon as it's safe to travel.....we're off.
They also had a great Fathers Day Commercial for 2021.
Even though it's a bit late in the game, it is still a classic.
Enjoy,

Not trying to hijack this thread...because I really like this car too.
I guess you're not upon Ohio Law.
No Title Upon Sale in OHIO
"The State of Ohio discourages any vehicle purchase that is not executed with a certificate of title. Additionally, the state does not allow bonded or surety titles, which are used to record provisional proof of ownership in most states around the country. If you have purchased a vehicle without a title and the seller is unavailable or unwilling to apply for a duplicate certificate of title, the Ohio BMV suggests that you contact a county title office, which reviews vehicle purchases without titles on a case-by-case basis."
It can be done, but ....
I like the car but I don't love the car.

Great looking car.
Not having a title stops me from even beginning to consider it.

Not sure if front brakes would be the same for the Skylark as an Electra. Probably not.
I have a complete Scarebird setup for a 65 Electra (front) that I removed a few months ago after going back to 100% stock setup.
The MC bore was 1/8" larger with the dual MC therefore my pedal was a bit firmer than original.
Mostly flat farm land near me, so less concern for brake fade.

I've used ash on all wood replacements for my cars and it isn't to difficult to find. Air dried is easy, but kiln dried can be a bit tricky.
I have a 28 Willys Whippet and was reading the confidential handbook the other day and saw this.
I only had to make new cabriolet frame wood for the top on my car. The rest of the wood was in great shape for being 93 years old.
Is this something common to Willys or did other manufacturers also use a wood different than ash?

A project car for sure. Looks like it's in his sandbox.
Think he's restoring it since the doors were missing in 2013 and they are on it now?
I noticed the doors missing but the steering wheel was covered so it wouldn't be damaged any more.
thanks

It's not on my side of the country but I can't help liking the it.

Can you post a few photos of the cars and the serial # plates?
The T in the first serial number is odd. Other than a C for Toronto Canada production, I'm not aware of any letters being used.
The WOKR group can identify them quickly and assist you.
Just register on their forum page and you'll be able to post your questions in the public forum.

Snyder's Antique Auto Parts in Ohio makes a water pump graphite packing that worked great for me.

Seller changed his mind....again.
Price back up to $3,500

The Craigslist price is $5500 - not $3500.
It also appears to be for sale from a different seller than the man I talked with. Different phone number and area code.
There are quite a few ads on Craigs for it in the NY area including the car sitting on a trailer.
It is the same car because I have the same barn photos that were posted.
Definitely not worth anywhere near his asking price.

A few more:
Since I'm looking for a car that needs wood replacement (I know...sounds foolish....but...) I was interested in these cars. But since most of my other cars are of the open top variety and I do like orphan cars, I passed because it didn't click at least one of those boxes.

A quick look of the interior

I looked into this car a few months ago.
Different owner now, maybe a flipper or someone who got in over their head.
I do have some interior and engine shots of the 28 if any one would want to see them.
A real project car but very original.

The seller (Kevin) was asking $7500 for this Chandler originally.
Even though I was looking for a project car, I inquired about it anyway.

The Grovewood Village in Asheville NC has a small car collection that includes a 1928 Chandler Sedan. The gentleman in charge of the collection told me that the Chandler runs and is driven occasionally.
I thought I’d share a few photos of one of my favorite cars.

I've got one in the front, centrally located, and 2 in the back, each equipped with a lighter.
Total of 3 in my 1965 Electra 225 and all have the original lighters.

You also might ask on the Willys-Overland-Knight Registry forum page. - www.wokr.org
There are many fine people who are knowledgeable in the early Overlands who are members of WOKR.
If you register at the site, you will have access to the public forum etc.
If you formally join WOKR you would also have access to the Members' Forum and a roster of other WOKR members' cars and contact info.
Good Luck,

1926 whippet roadster
in General Discussion
Posted
The Whippet is certainly not the choice for a tall person.
I'm not nearly that tall and have a difficult time getting in and out of my 28' Cabriolet.
Once I'm seated, no problem.
Here's a photo of a 28 Roadster (not the car the 26Willys is talking about).

And here's a photo of my 28' Cabriolet.
It's getting a new top this winter. Just waiting for the call to drop it off.
