  1. I like the 57 Fords and have looked at many over the years. This is the first 4 door with a kit I have ever seen. Wonder if a 4 door could be ordered with a continental kit or if it was added?
  2. All seems to point to a broken timing chain. I am not sure if that would cause more damage to the engine or not. Keep us posted on what you find. Also you may want to start a new thread here. You are posting on an old thread and one of your own would be much better. Good luck.
  3. If you have fuel and spark to the engine and it will not start, then the third part of the equasion to make an engine run is timing. Have you checked to see if it jumped time or broke the timing chain?
  4. Brass is Best usually includes a pic of the dish lighted in his post for his cars for sale. I love that feature. Check out his posts in the "Cars For Sale" section and you will see some great dashboards lighted.
  5. They had the normal GM ac setup with round air outlets in the dash and compressor under the hood. If I remember correctly this is the setup used on GM cars from 1955 forward.
  6. I think 55er is right. I thought it was a Mercury also until I looked closer good call.
  7. That unit would use the old R-12 refrigerant. I would guess it was unhooked because it needed Freon and it was too expensive to recharge it. You should be able to find a shop willing to convert it to modern refrigerant but I do not know the cost and also what else may be wrong with your system.
  8. Any markings on the underside?
  9. I sold unwanted trade ins to the Mexico wholesalers regularly in the 90's. I was always amazed on what they would buy to rebuild. They would take a vehicle I would not drive across town and use it to tow an even worse car across Guadalupe pass in New Mexico. They always had tools and ran in packs of several drivers so they could switch to a different cars to tow with when one would break. Looks like their setup now may be a step up from the tow bars.
  10. One of the favorite cars I have owned was a 1967 Caddy sedan De Ville. It was a beautiful baby blue with navy blue cloth seats. I still prefer cloth for comfort.
  11. That is quite a setup. I do not have the answer and , like you, waiting for an expert in these cars to fill us in. My guess would be some sore of a power steering setup.
  12. Here is a pic of a 65 Mustang which should be correct for your car too, I think
  13. Nice car. Not to nit pick it in any way, but it appears to have 1953 tail lights, which I personally think looks much better. If I were lucky enough to have a 52, I would consider doing the same thing
  14. Carolina, your car is not a hardtop. Here is a 52 Special hardtop. The chrome is right, the top of the vent window is squared, the crease is straight. Hardtops are different in several ways
  15. The vent windows are different Also the crease in the doors in question is straight, not slanted like the other picture. Looks like1950 - 53 doors for a special.
  16. Hello Rusty. Nice find. Those old Internationals are a real workhorse type truck and were built to last. I am afraid you will not find many answers to your questions here. AACA and its forum is dedicated to preserving vehicles to as near to original as possible. So I do not see many people here having the knowledge on modernizing your truck. Some of the forums that cover coustomization may be a better place for that info. Nothing wrong with your plan. It is just not what most here do with vehicles. And someone here may come in with ideas. There are people on here that do both preservation and some custom work. Keep us informed on your progress.
  17. Looks like the tag is 1932 on my big monitor. Not real clear but I believe that is correct.
  18. Note to self, check brakes BEFORE loading next time.
  19. Who is saying your readings are high? Whoever is testing your car may know a good mechanic., Any good parts store should be able to supply a converter and other parts you may need. The car is not so old that parts would be a problem. Please remember cheap and good usually do not come in the same package. You will be way ahead to spend a little extra and have it done right
  20. That is quite a find. Trucks are more tricky to date because they did not change styles as often as most cars. It looks to be about 1920. The title will have the exact year and model number and you can work from that info. Also there appears to be a data plate on the right side in front of the door that will have lots of info. Good luck and keep us informed. And thanks for the pictures,
  21. Looks a lot like a 1936 GMC to me.
  22. Wonder how much that thing weighs?
  23. Hope you can rescue it. Please keep us posted.
  24. Those are good engines. If it can be saved that is what I would do. Keep us updated on your progress.
