  2. I have a 1912 REO and am looking to replace the exhaust valve springs, does anyone have a source to have them custom made. I am sure they are not an the shelf part. Thanks,

  4. 1965 Olds Starfire, I have seen them on 98s also.
  5. I need a Bosch dual mag switch end cover, the black Bakelite round cover that covers the terminals. It is held on by the center ground nut. I will post a photo of one soon.
  6. Please let me know if you have a pair or know of a complete engine that is for sale.
  7. You may want to contact Gearvender Overdrives, they make a nice unit. I have heared some people use a Volvo overdrive. You need to add a reverse saftey switch since you can not bacl up in overdrive.
  8. I have had Hagerty since 2002, I have not made any claims like most of us. So far so good. A friend of mine that had a 1947 Olds Conv, it was at a shop being worked on when the shop burned to the ground due to a lightning strike. The car was a total loss, Hagerty paid the agreed value that week. That was enough for me to go with them...... I hope I never have to use it…… Your cars look to new for calssic insurance, you may want to call to see if they will cover you.
  9. I would install an overdrive unit behind the trans, check out Gear Vendor. You will not find a 4speed to fit that engine. Other then the control switch, you can not see it from the top. DO NOT cut the drive shavt, have a new one made, it is not that much and you can put it back to stock again. I had a friend install one in a 1927 Olds and it made a huge difference.
  10. If you pull the knob, it lets Acetylene into the cylinders, the spark plugs ignite the charge to start the engine. Then gasoline takes over. Not a great idea…… I would leave the control on the dash and dummy the plumbing for affect. People love to see that stuff….
  11. I am asking $1,200 for the set plus shipping. I also have a nice set of 1985-1987 Chrome & Gold wheels.
  12. They did come with wires in 01, 02 & early 03. The second plug was added many years ago, I ran it with one and it was a major improvement to have two, so I left it. If you have a falure with one coil the car will die, if you have two it will still run. The car runs great, I took the car to the 2003 Nationals and that is where Joe fell in love with it.
  13. How did Mondello do with the 1903 Olds, he bought it from me a few years ago....
  14. you may want to call Jim Zail, he builds custom pans to your specs. You will have to send him a stock pan to cut and weld a new sump on, he will make a pick up for also. Hw does very nice work, he can be reached at 714-899-7185
  15. The drawback is that at high altitudes, it gets mushy on you. I have noticed this effect when we go over 10-13K feet passes in Colorado. It isn't really bad, but it is noticeable when we drove our 1963 Cutlass Conv to the show in Denver. As soon as we where down the hill you sould feel it get harder again....
  16. An accurate test to determine the viability of your antifreeze is to attach the positive lead from a digital volt-ohm meter to the metal part of the radiator, then center the negative lead into the coolant itself. A voltage reading of 0.2 or less is very good. A reading of 0.5 should be considered borderline, while anything over 0.7 is unacceptable. If your coolant fails this test the coolant system should be drained and flushed and fresh antifreeze should be added. There is a new generation of "lifetime" antifreezes being promoted. Do not mix these with the ethylene glycol antifreeze that has been in use for the last sixty years, as they are not compatible. I do not recommend using lifetime antifreeze in collector cars. I understand that it will seep everywhere, including into the cylinder areas, in cars not assembled with the newer rubber bonded steel gaskets.
  17. I use car wash soap but I wax my trailer 2-3 times per year. The wax removes the streaks. You need to wash the roof every time you wash the trailer. I use a ladder & a brush on a long pole.
  18. I have had my 2007 GMC 2500HD Crew Cab Diesel truck on a two post lift with no problems, you should be ok. Be sure to do yout home work, buy one that is HEAVY DUTY, you do not want to out grow it in the future.
  19. My 1912 REO has 34X4" tires.
  20. Whare are you located? I am looking for a set of jugs and an exhaust manifold.
  21. I learned a while ago not to worry about winning, just drive the car and enjoy it. That is what it was built for..
  22. I have a set of the dimpled valve covers, they are hard to find. If anyone is interested send me a PM....
