  1. The more I study the photo and what the young fellow is doing suggest that the car is of GM heritage. The boy, it appears is fixing the glove box light. It appears to be the same kind I have in my 1938 Buick.

The light goes on and off automatically by simply opening or closing the glove box door. A tiny ball bearing rolls in the fixture of the light to turn on or turn off the light with the movement and final position of the glove box lid.

The Keys... In my view the keys look GM. Also, in 1937 and 1938 Buicks a steering wheel lock was part of the steering column. It does not appear in this photo

It's a great photo and tells a wonderful story. I wish it was part of my collection.

  2. Gene:

Having grown up in a 1955 Buick, I too have a fondness for the side emblems.

Buick had a way with the designs of their cars and the "perks" that went along with it.

The Gold Buick Emblem on the doors of a 1955 Roadmaster is one of those "perks".

A touch of class in my view.

I have said it before and I'll say it again. Buick had class and style. Not glitz.

(Century side emblem from the web.)

  3. Dan:

    Thank you for the clarification.

As you know anything listed on eBay and the information provided is always subject to proof.

My interest was in the photo and the story it told, rather than to tell a story about the photo.

Again thank you for your information.

    Dave

  4. In my view your best bet is Hampton Coach. They can sell you the material and you could have a local guy install. I hate to mention price but I think your looking at a minimum of $5,000 to $ 8,000. It could be more. I have not done an interior install on my cars for quite awhile.

A gentleman I know in my home town owns a 1936 Special. He did a complete interior install, it came close to that amount about five years ago.
