Hi guys,
My '37 Business Coupe has a Marvel Schebler CD1B carburetor on it. Unfortunately my library has nothing on this unit in regard to settings or adjustments. I also suspect the leather or rubber on the tip of my accelerator pump is in need of repair. Anyone hear of this carburetor or even have a manual for it?
Thanks again!

Thanks Christian, I have a call in to Dave & got some additional help from the '37-'38 Buick Yahoo group. All of this quick help makes me appreciate the fact that I am working on a car in the computer age!

Hello,
Does anyone know where I can get a replacement for my tail light bulb holder? I can't think of the right term right now. On my '37 business coupe the left tail light has a unit with some phenolic block where the brake & tail light leads hook in and there are two bulbs, one for the tail and one for the plate. On the right side there is just one bulb.
My phenolic block on my left unit is broken. Any thoughts?
Thanks again guys,
Chris

From January 11-March 10, 1941 Pontiac salesmen were encouraged to participate in a sales competition (Ring the Bell with Pontiac) that would offer prizes for the number of cars sold. New Pontiacs were worth 600 points, used cars (over $50) were worth 300 points, and "junkers & used cars under $50" were worth nothing.
Salesmen could order prizes from a 50-page catalog that had everything from radios, pens and golf clubs to dining sets and toys for the kids. Pontiac was so excited about the program that they even mailed the catalog to the salesman's wife!
I don't know if Pontiac offered this program other years but I assume your bell was part of this program.
I have no idea what your bell is worth, that isn't what I do, but if you are ever in Hershey stop by the AACA Library to see the full catalog.

Dennis,
I am glad you found what you are looking for. If you are ever in Hershey stop by the library and you can hold the actual magazine. We have that issue of Horseless Age and 40,000+ other periodicals. There is nothing like holding the actual document!
Let us know when the AACA Library can help; think of us first!

Tom Ferrier spent several hours in the library this past week sorting through some drawers of photographs & postcards. Here are a few from interesting ones.
The last one, the Mitchell Ranger, is a vehicle I wasn't aware of. Learn a little more about it by clicking here.
Can you ID any of the others?

Thanks CJ, I did see your message and passed it along to the local PPG supplier. They said they couldn't do anything with that formula so I am still trying to track it down.
Thanks for the help,
Chris
-
Thanks Dave, I will give that one a try. I had tried that site but couldn't find the code.
I tried the local PPG supplier, even left him chips and old formulas but they told me PPG didn't have it in the library because it was too old. The best they could do, he said, was to take a scan of a piece and match it that way. This is hard to do because the only piece I have with original color is the firewall and I don't have wheels on my car because I am waiting to paint them Sudan Blue.
And Steve, you are correct. I didn't have an old car when I started at the library. I was into old airplanes but I've made a full conversion and have been fully inflicted with the same disease that you all have!
Thanks again,
Chris

Hello,
I posted this in the pre-war Buick forum as well. Before I go painting my Buick candy apple red I was wondering if anyone knows of the modern PPG paint formula for "Sudan Blue" used on 1937 Buicks. If you do, please share! Thanks!

Last year a gentleman donated a 1968 Chevrolet Impala convertible to the AACA Library. It was his wish that we sell the car to raise money for the library. That car is now on Ebay. Our seller ID is "aacalibrarian" and the Ebay auction number is #130510323404. Full description can be found on the auction site.

Today, believe it or not, is National Bookmobile Day!!! If you are unable to visit the bookmobile that serves your community today, then you can admire the AACA Library Bookmobile that served residents of Anderson County, SC from 1956-1991.
As stated in another post, this donation came from Hornets Nest Region members Tom Gibson & Dave Bowman. The bookmobile arrived safely in Hershey on Sunday night and is being looked over as I type to determine a plan of attack.
The first picture shows Tom & Dave. The second picture is a look into the future and I can't wait to see even more kids (young & old) surrounding the bookmobile.
You can see even more pictures & track progress on our Facebook page.
Again, Happy National Bookmobile Day!!!!!!!!

Mr Head,
A quick Google search will produce contact information but if you send me your info I will be happy to pass it along.
In regard to donations, any money sent to us earmarked for the bookmobile will be used for the restoration and ongoing maintenance of the vehicle.
Steve Moskowitz will be picking up the bookmobile next week. When we get it back to Hershey we will post plenty of pictures and details on this site & the library website (AACA Library).
Keep checking back!
