  1. I can't offer any advice on your battery drainage or "shorts", but do try these folks for a 6 volt cover/battery box/case for your Optima battery. http://quailservices.com/index.html I've been using one for about 3 years with no problems and I keep some extra spare parts inside the box. Home Regards, Frank
  2. Try Restoration Specialties & Supply in PA. 814-467-9842 Restoration Specialties & Supply, Inc. | Windber, PA 15963 I have dealt with them for 2+years with great success. Several times without my having part #s. Frank
  3. I don't know if you have found a supplier for your bearings. If not, try Miller Bearings on Adamo Dr in Tampa. They are an industrial bearing & parts distrib. I had used them for many years while in the concrete business. They do carry an extensive inventory that might include automotive bearings, races, etc. AND to answer your question, NO I do not think you were asking too much to have that supplier verify something for you. If YOU are in the service industry, then service your customers or close your doors! IMHO Regards, Frank
  4. I was running Champion RJ12C for about 2 years with no problems. I replaced them last month with Autolite #306 as I could not find the Champions locally at a decent price. Found the Autolites on line, BTW Regards, Frank
  5. Try these folks. I have NOT used them, simply got the url on another forum Classic Radiators & Heaters - New Heater Cores for Chrysler products Frank
  6. I've got a '50 Dodge with the Gyromatic Trans. It's the M6. Someone was kind enough to share this with me, perhaps this might help you as well. <link rel="File-List" href="file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/FRANKB%7E1/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/msoclip1/01/clip_filelist.xml"><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:WordDocument> <w:View>Normal</w:View> <w:Zoom>0</w:Zoom> <w:DoNotOptimizeForBrowser/> </w:WordDocument> </xml><![endif]--><style> <!-- /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-parent:""; margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";} @page Section1 {size:8.5in 11.0in; margin:1.0in 1.25in 1.0in 1.25in; mso-header-margin:.5in; mso-footer-margin:.5in; mso-paper-source:0;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} --> </style><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <o:shapedefaults v:ext="edit" spidmax="1026"/> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <o:shapelayout v:ext="edit"> <o:idmap v:ext="edit" data="1"/> </o:shapelayout></xml><![endif]-->(1) Disconnect the transmission wiring completely from the spark coil where it gets its power. The transmission will upshift with the wiring disconnected, but you'll have to put the clutch in to let it down shift after you come back down to a stop. If it shifts like it should with the wiring disconnected, then you know you have a wiring problem. (2) double-, triple, and quadruple-check your idle speed. If you're using a little tachometer, it might be lying to you. Set the tach aside, and turn the idle down as far as it'll go and still run -- just fast enough that it'll idle in gear without stalling. I'm mean really low. See if that makes a difference. There should not be a lot of oil in the governor switch. I don't know what kind of seal they have in them, and you'd have to take one completely apart to find out. It's also possible the transmission is over-full. It should only be filled to the level of the filler plug, but there's something that can fool you. There filler plug is on the passenger's side f the gearbox about four inches above the drain plug. There's a second plug a couple of inches higher, and you don't want to make the mistake of thinking that's the filler plug because that would be too full. <!--[if !supportLineBreakNewLine]--> <!--[endif]--> Gyro Tranmission.pdf
  7. Dynaflash8 - I also live in Sebring. Hicks Oil on SR 66 West of US 27 does have non-ethanol fuel. They're great people with whom to do business. Also, do you have any friends with airboats? Think about what type of fuel they are burning in those old airplane engines. Regards, Frank
