  1. I haven't been on here for a while so I thought I would 'bump' these back up and see if anyone is interested. There are three posts with a large selection of bumpers available and a few more available that are not pictured. My husband was in a head-on accident last year and ended up in a coma for a while. I am selling this whole lot of bumpers and more parts to raise money to move to a different home. We are in rough shape financially but blessed in every other way possible. Jim is improving weekly and we are just happy that he survived!

So-anyone interested in the whole shebang gets the best and fastest deal. These are priced to move and I mean MOVE...you can email me at docdans(at)yahoodotcom

thanks & good to be back!

  4. I totally agree Curti. I haven't posted on here in a while and posted them 'inline' I guess and it certainly needed to be broken into separate posts. Learn by my mistakes, for sure. Thanks, I can take constructive criticism. These are all dentless, straight and none of them have the pitting that you would expect to see. My dad had possibly had them re-chromed I believe but they have been sitting for a while so this is the result of over ten years of not being maintained in a pristine condition. I will give the potential buyer what I have and if he isn't interested I will post them here and on E-Bay within the week. Thank you all SO MUCH. I need the money so I am going to price them as reasonably as I can and hope they move well.

  5. WOW Guys!! That's three out of these four posted!!!! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!! I also have some bumper guards that I have to take pics of today and post so get your thinking caps on and get ready for them.

Now I have to decide how much to offer these to my buyer for. Any ideas? I have to think that they are worth at least more than $50 each...? A few of these bumpers are in perfect condition and only need a little buff up and polishing. They don't ALL have to be re-chromed.

    Thanks again!

  6. Final set of Bumpers to ID:

This set includes bumper numbers 4, 6 & 7. The #7's are the ones that are the L-shaped chrome pieces. I have 3 pairs of them and one spare (there may be a mate to it somewhere).

#4 pictures are of the bumper that have additional end pieces that are to be bolted on to it. I do not believe I have those end pieces. There are three pics that belong to the other two bumpers that I could not get to. They are stacked underneath of all these bumpers. I have 3 pictures of their ends but not the full bumpers. Good luck figuring them out. Thanks for any help you all can throw my way.

  7. Okay-in the interest of saving the amount of posts I have to make, I am going to go ahead and just post as many pics as I have in this and one more post. Hopefully you all can figure these bumpers out. It is hard to label these the way the pictures come out here though. I haven't labeled the pics in any way to ID them by a number though.

Thanks for all your help folks!! Here you go!

    These are pics of Bumpers 2, 3, 8 & 9.

  8. I have several bumpers to ID that I need to get at least a general ID of what they might go to and what I should ask for them. I have a guy who is interested in them and I honestly have no idea what prices they are fetching nowadays. I have been out of touch with the market for a while so I need to do more research before I am going to know what things are worth in our present economy. I want to make him a good deal and still feel like I haven't been taken to the cleaners.

All of these bumpers are in very good condition but if someone wants them for a show car they will want them re-chromed. Some are better than others. If anyone is interested in any of these please let me know. I am in central Texas, between Austin and San Antonio. I also have other car parts but will post them as I pull them.

    Thanks!

  9. I have a beautiful matching pair of these if anyone is interested. I was told that they were all sold as aftermarket-not as installed items. I was surprised when I found them in such good condition in my fathers restoration shop when he passed away. Of course, when we started going through everything and found so many rare items, we realized it wasn't so odd because he kept so many rare items for that unique customer that would eventually come along looking for just that 'particular' item that he 'happened' to have available.

  10. Curti,

Great Pic! I will dig through some boxes and see if I can find something for you. I can't think of a better project to contribute to than the dream of seeing a childhood gift like this come back to life. I'll tag this post and keep looking through my plethora of boxes and see what I can come up with. Good luck on your search for parts!

  11. The problem for me is that the price is a little steep. Shipping on those radios is going to be a bear because they are monsters. I'd love to take them off your hands because I have several like them, I'm sure I could salvage them for parts. But $100 is too rich for my blood. Hopefully, someone who restores these radios up north is going to see this and jump on them. I just hate to see these radios go to the scrap heap. We've lost too many of them as it is. Could you send me any info that you have found on the radios and I'll maybe take a few of them off of your hands?

email me at docdans@yahoo dot com

    Thanks!

  12. Bundeling the parts,,,then selling some,,and then the rest,,,no not all just more,,,,,NOW what is left in last LOT,???,,,Easy on auctioneer,,KRAZY for buyer,,,,think about it,,Ben

    CBEN09;

I don't know if you have ever been to a an auction of a large estate like this but you have to realize that usually when someone like Mr. Edmiston passes away there is an INCREDIBLE amount of inventory to go through. It is absolutely mind-boggling to realize how extensive the collections can be and all of that has to be auctioned off in the space of one or two days. Estate auctions of this calibre NEVER sell just one or two pieces, or if they do, it is a RARE and expensive piece. There are TRAILER loads and fields and buildings of parts to be dispensed and those go in lots based on like parts or groupings of make and models. Looking through the collection on the website, it seems to include everything from the large to the smallest of items and I'll bet there are tons of jars and boxes of "Bits & Pieces" that aren't labeled, categorized or anything! This will be an EXHAUSTING day for both auctioneer and buyers as they go through a decades long collection of priceless and worthless items that had to be categorized ahead of time. This will DEFINITELY NOT be an easy day for the AUCTIONEER! He is going to be working his tail off!

When my father passed away he had a fairly organized mid-sized collection but it has still taken years to go through and inventory as an individual. I can't imagine having to go through fields and trailer loads worth of parts and having to categorize everything in the space of just six to seven short months as this executor is having to do. This is a great reminder for the old-timers to make sure they have plans in place for a talented executor to handle this type of responsibility as it seems Mr. Edmiston and his family have in this case. It is a DAUNTING job!

I wouldn't be anticipating any purchases of individual items unless it is a high-priced, rare item that would not be sold in a lot of like items. That is a completely unrealistic expectation of an estate auction of this magnitude.

  13. Try posting this in the 'What is this' forum and see if you can get a response. A better picture (sideways, with a ruler next to it to show length) would be ideal. Hopefully you will get a better response. Also indicate if there are any markings on it at all, width, length, etc.

  14. Layden-Is this an Indak or a Cole Switch? The reason I ask is that I also have several of these switches and if I find out the application I will pass it on to you. I have a current Cole .pdf catalog with some pictures if you are interested, of some of these switches but it doesn't have there application. I'll keep you posted if you want me to.

  15. I love a happy ending! Just reading about some of the repairs we make and innovate brings a little tear to my eye (out of remembrance to my Dad), because I was raised working on cars with him and he taught me so many of those little shortcuts to save time and money. Glad it all worked out for you Jan_Zverina!

  16. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! That one has had me stumped for SO long. It is a really good looking speedometer too. It never ceases to amaze me how our antique cars and the parts they put into them were such works of art. Sure wish car makers put ANY kind of thought and imagination into our vehicles today (besides the ones that are completely out of an average person's price range). Any more guys have ideas on the other parts?

  17. I have a couple more Speedos that I have been having trouble ID'ing. The Gold-faced speedometer has numbers on the back: 389ABJ12SW The other one I am not sure of any numbers yet. I am hoping that some fresh eyes may be able to help me. I am also attaching some pics of a couple chrome pieces with lights that I could use some help with identification on also. Thanks for your help!
