  1. Brought the '32 out for a drive the other day here in Marin County, CA. Since we have a lot of Victorian's and older homes, thought this would be a good picture setting the stage of the era. A lot easier to drive than my Packard. Get's more compliments, too! Jay Novato, CA 1932 Buick 8-86 Victoria Travelers Coupe 1930 Packard 726. (Purchased locally here in August of 1930. Was in the same family for almost 50 years)
  2. According to the paint guide Gold Mist (6) was a Spring color. Silver mist is code number (4). This is a convertible? Jay

    Rare Finds

A collector here in Marin County (North end of the Golden Gate Bridge) starting to liquidate some of his collectibles to people he knows. Small things here and there. I posted on the Pre-War Buick Forum a 1928 Buick Tire Pressure Gauge I found in an antique store. Looks N.O.S. Near mint. Always looking when I have a day off here and there. J
  4. Hi, Mark - Found it here in Marin County. North end of the Golden Gate Bridge. A lot of antique stores still in the area here and in Sonoma County, our neighbor to the North. J

    Rare Finds

Found these today, all in one place, and from what I can tell, appear to be pretty rare finds. I've never seen any of these except for the tar remover which is obviously 1950's. The large 5 quart oil can must be a rare sight as well as the reverse copper newspaper print with the paper on the other side. Mid to later 30's? Jay Novato, CA 1932 Buick 8-86 Victoria Travelers Coupe 1930 Packard 726
  6. Found an old tire Buick tire gauge in mint condition still in its leather pouch. Appears maybe 1928 as it has the year, model, front tires and rear tires listed at the top with the correct pressure coinciding Jay Novato, CA 1932 Buick 8-86 Victoria Travelers Coupe 1930 Packard 726 Sedan
  7. Same here on the Wizard Control. Have heard the same thing from Buick owners out here in the West. Very problematic. Bob Engle had mentioned the same thing that if not done correctly, lot's of problems!
  8. Sandy - Do you have your Wizard Control hooked up? Jay
  9. Kevin - Let us know if you find one along with the heat riser. I have been looking for a spare for years. That goes for the riser, too! Jay Novato, CA 1932 Buick Model 8-86 Victoria Travelers Coupe 1930 Packard 8 726
  10. Don't know about the originals, but the neon on this one is in clear glass with the Packard in an Orange/Red and the circle around it in a vibrant blue. When off, the blue appears to be white within the glass. Jay
  11. As Dave stated, listen to your son! Dump the Ford! Jay 1932 Buick 8-86 Victoria Travelers Coupe
  12. Thanks for all the input on the sign. One way or another, they are pretty nice signs! We had a Gas Bash out here the day after I got back from vacation, so as usual, went up to find a few treasures (one man's junk, is another's treasure) and came across a few nice Packard items......old oil cans with the soldered seams, moto-meter and a neon Packard Sign that probably came out of someones estate. Weighs a ton, but 2 of us managed to get it up on the wall in the garage. The red is a really nice deep orange/red within the clear glass like the old beer signs of the 50's. I'm assuming this is probably from the 70's early 80's. Jay Novato, CA
  13. Wizard Control was good in theory, but was problematic. Mine is disengaged, though the red foot button is there, it's just for looks now. I don't think I know of any 32's or 33's that have it in use today. They had it for only 2 years before discontinuing it. As mentioned, too many problems. Jay Novato, CA 1932 Buick 8-86 Victoria Travelers Coupe 1930 Packard
  14. Here's the book and description of the robe rail locks. Extremely rare from what I've been told.
  15. The step plate was the only accessory I was going add to the exterior. I did find this today with the original cardboard insert. This is being added to the inside. Glove box or under the seat with the tools. Jay
  16. The hardest piece to find on this '32 will be the clock that's been "liberated" from the center of the glove box. Jay 1932 8-86 Victoria Travelers Coupe
  17. Got the original sign hanger cleaned up, painted Packard Blue and was able to hang the sign. Jay
  18. Has anyone seen one of these before? I came across a couple of rare Packard items including a Robe Rail Lock that I researched and was $1.50 back in the day. The description of it tells you how to lock your blanket, clothes, etc., on the Robe Rail so your items cannot be stolen. Came across a large near perfect Packard oil can with the soldered seam, but the guy selling it wants $500. He's holding it for me so I wanted to know if it is worth the $$. Thanks! Jay Novato, CA
  19. Here is the set of plates I have. Was looking for a matching pair. Thanks! Jay
  20. Ed - Funny comment about the Darrin! The best laugh I've had all day!!! Good one! Jay
  21. Thanks, Dave. You are correct, now that you put it that way! Jay
  22. PS to MRCVS: There are a number of younger people here in the San Francisco Bay Area that own and drive old cars. Specifically a late '30's early '40's club and they dress in this era on a daily basis. Don't judge the age of a car and associate it with the age of the owner! Some of my closest friends range from their 30's to the their 70's and there is one common denominator....................the love of the cars! Jay
  23. I think everyone needs to re-read David's (Trimacar) answers to this thread. Very eloquently stated, thought out, and correct! I am 50 and just bought my life long dream of owning a Packard. I also have the 1932 Buick 8-86 Travelers Coupe (pictured and completely restored), the 1931 Cadillac 355A, and 3 other cars, since sold. I, personally, have watched the prices of Packard's steadily go up over the last 8 years.......................there is the old, shoulda, woulda, coulda, saying, but the Packard I ended up with is an elegant car. I waited and found the right one, for me, right now. I wish I had bought the 1933 Club Sedan or the 1930 733 Coupe, but the longer you wait, like has been stated, the longer you deprive yourself of the fun of driving and owning one of these beauties. The price for me was right....I was happy.......the seller (now a good friend) was happy, and we will both enjoy the car when he and his wife come and visit. Jay
  24. Thanks - Is there anyone selling them? Just trying to dress the car up a bit. Though, she is a 726 and looks fine, just need to bring her to the next level. Jay
