James Farm Road "wings" over the Merritt Parkway, Stratford, CT

I've been taking some opportunities lately to gather up various materials about the Merritt Parkway, Southern Connecticut's beautiful and historic highway, first opened in 1940.

The page I've created to document some of these various words & pictures, is called "Merritt Parkway - History In Our Midst" and is located at:

This photo is from Wednesday, August 30, 2006, when I visted the James Farm Road "wings" that overlook the Merritt Parkway in Stratford, CT. The wings are part of the bridge that spans the Parkway, and ther are two pairs of them, so that drivers on both the northbound and southbound sides of the Merritt can view them. As it's hard to get an idea of the size of the wings when driving by on the Parkway, I drove my '68 Bug over to James Farm Road for a couple of photos, with the car as a size reference.
