WHEEL CYLINDERS: front left 33220, front right 33221, rear left 33004, rear right 33005. They are all 8.99 except the rear left. Which for some reason is 9.99.

Are you sure about that? The hoses I mean. How much are they on there? Are you looking them up under 5580 body style? I couldn't find them.
Tim
MBL

Yes i'm sure those will fit. Have them on my 56 Executive. if u r trying to use the AZO web-site its a little tricky . Use the Part # search NOT the car make search. Priced about $18 for the front and about $22 for the rear.

Not to add to the confusion, but here are the brake hose numbers from an old Wagner catalog I had:
Brake Hose, Front: Wagner #FC20521
Brake Hose, Rear: Wagner #FC8699
Mind you these numbers may now be obsolete, but could have been superceded - unless they happen to fit other vehicles.
[ 08-21-2002: Message edited by: BH ]

Packard V8 hydraulic valve lifters:
Melling JB 879 or SealedPower HT 879.
DO NOT USE THE 2011 LIFTER !!!!!!!!
I have the JB879 installed in my 56 Executive.
When i pulled it apart there were 2 replacement types in there that i have reasons to believe came from one of the major suppliers. The 879 lifters are identicle to the 2 replacements i found in the engine EXCEPT for the shape of the pushrod seat. The 879 has a pushrod seat identicle to the factory lifters that was in the car.
The 879 lifters seem to have a very faint high speed bleed down problem at a bout 2700 rpm. BUT, then again, so did the lifters i removed from the car.

Front Shocks: 1955 are different than 1956! The 1956 have a "T-bar" bottom and the 1955 have a straight stud bottom. I'll look up the 1955 #s later and amend this post. Rear shocks use the same mounting and I'll post those later too.

56 Senior drums are different than 53-55. 56 uses nuts because of the rearend change. Earlier uses studs.
YFAM, Randy Berger

Spark Plugs:

55th: Champion #H-10 (original); also use #H14Y

56th: Champion #N-18 (original); also use #N16YC

I obtained the "also use" info over a decade ago. Since I was still able to get H-10s (common for agricultural use, I was told), I never verified the x-ref for '55s. However, I have used the N16YCs in each of my '56s with no ill effects.

RO: Since 1955s were supposed to be POS ground and you posted VRs for NEG ground and stated that yours are NEG ground, did you convert from POS to NEG (like I did on my 55 Pat) or were they NEG ground from the beginning?

If this question starts another series of Q&As would the responder please start another thread rather than cluttering up the Xref thread with debate? All I'm looking for is clarification.

Front Wheel Grease Seals:

1951-56 Packard except below:
Victor - N/R
Chicago Rawhide - N/R
National #5975

1956 Clipper:
Victor #49746
Chicago Rawhide #17115
National #6840S

1954-55 Clipper:
Victor #49594
Chicago Rawhide #17131
National #6456

A friend found the above info in a post on the Stude newsgroup and copied it to me. I have not verified this info for accuracy. I assume that the "N/R" notation must mean "No Replacement" available.

Elsewhere in my notes I have reference to a Victor #49237, but I cannot recall if this is what I had used on one of my 55/56 Senior cars.

Forgot to log in, Craig, but yes both my 55s were negative ground when I acquired them, presumably for the add-on A/C in each.
