The car stays in 2nd gear while accelerating or maintaining speed but if you lift your foot off the gas even a little it pops out of gear. What are the possible causes of this problem, and how do l narrow it down to the actual cause? What will need to be done to fix the problem? If parts are needed where can they be found? Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

You have a worn syncro. Replacement of the syncro is your solution.

Congrats on the purchase. As for parts you are in the correct country at the moment. Maybe Graham spares has some...
