These 2 attached photos were recent "finds" from a couple of old family photo boxes I borrowed from my Aunt. I'm very curious what makes/models these two cars might be! Also, was it common back then for people to take pictures featuring their automobile, while sitting in it in the grass?! :o) Thanks VERY much for any help you can provide! -FamilyHistoryGal

(386 downloads) Description: great-great uncle Jens was one of 3 brothers who owned Leines Motor Company in Fergus Falls, MN. It was a dealership and repair shop, specializing in Winton-Davis and Dort cars. (384 downloads) Description: My grandfather (in the middle of the back seat) was born 01/01/01. His brother (born 1899) is "driving" the car, and their parents are on the passenger side of the car.

Hi, Great photos. They are both Reo's. The top one is a 2-cylinder, circa 1909. The bottom one is a 4-cylinder, 1910, maybe 1911. I hope this helps, and thanks for sharing, Chris

Great photos! Remember, back then the reason those photos are "posed" is due to the slow shutter speeds of the day's cameras. If you moved much, you'd be a blur.

WOW! Two great quality photos, thanks for finding the secret to posting them. Back in the day it was quite common to have the family dress up and have a photo taken in the new car, they cost as much as a house some times. Question for the REO people, is that a painted on panel on the upper rear door? I know many cars had cane work, but that pattern is very unique.

Actual cane work, used on 1910 cars only.
