I replaced the power antenna switch (the stalk had broken) and the switch doesn't work. According to the Service Manual there is an inline fuse, but I haven't been able to find it by following the wires from the switch. Any help would be appreciated.

I think you will find the fuse in the fuse panel.

BTW The fuse panel is on the left side of the dashboard above the e-rake. It is hidden away in a little panel in the dash. Loosen 2 screws and the panel will come down. It took me a while to find mine.

Dick, I wish it was that simple. The Service Manual says the fuse is located in the wiring connector close to the switch. The instrument panel wiring drawing in the Manual shows a feed from the fuse panel out to the power antenna. It also shows all the fuses in the panel, none of them for the power antenna. My inspection of the fuse panel confirmed no fuse for the antenna and no broken connections coming from the panel. Bill, the panel I'm referring to is located next to the emergency brake and is visible and accessible. I am not aware of a second fuse panel hidden in a little panel in the dash. Are you referring to the two access panels flanking the steering column? I removed both and could find no fuse panel.

My $.02:

First, have you put a meter or test light on the feed wire to the antenna switch? Could be a bad switch or antenna is the problem.

Second, if no voltage feeding the switch, follow the feed wire back to the fuse block. Yes, the manual shows an in-line fuse between the switch and the fuse block so keep hunting. Whatever color wire feeds the switch is most likely the same color to the in-line fuse and all the way back to the fuse block so look there too and trace back the other direction if necessary.

Third and last resort--run a new fused wire to the switch.

Ahhhh must be a difference between the 63 & 64 cars then as mine was a bear to find. No there is no hidden panel. Sorry for the mis information.

Your e-mail sent me back to the Service Manual. In the radio section was a drawing of the related wiring and lo and behold, there was the in-line fuse in the vicinity of the instrument panel. Going through the access door to the left of the steering column and from up above with the dash pad off, I was able to disconnect the fuse holder. Yep, bad fuse. Could only find the newer thread type fuses instead of the older blade type for 10 amps in all the parts stores. These newer ones are a tad longer and while you can squeeze them into the fuse panel, they will not work in the inline fuses, especially the power antenna fuse where the tight surroundings gave me very little leverage to twist and lock the holder. Does anyone know of a retail supplier of these older blade fuses? Anyway I swapped out an older type fuse from the fuse panel and now the power antenna works. Thanks.

My friend has a '64 Riv. The next time I see him I am going to see where the fuse box is on his car. I guess we can add this to the list of differences between the two models.
