Hello,

my grandfather had a car mascot on his desk for as long as I can remember. I never really thought about what car it belonged to but now, when he has been gone for a number of years, I have been trying to find out but I just can't seem to find the proper car to go with the mascot.

I have gone through tons of sites online describing mascots and ornaments to any number of cars - and a found one reference to Oldsmobile (http://www.mascot-mania.co.uk/orphanage.html?/zboldsmobile.html&19orphan57) but have not been able to confirm that this is correct.

Any help in identifying this would be hugely appreciated.

Sincerely,

Pascal Denize

I'm admittedly weak on prewar cars, but if the mascot site has identified it correctly I'd say it is a 30s Olds piece. We need to get some of the NAOC guys on here.

I don't think it's Oldsmobile. The one on the Link is definitely NOT 1933.
Yours is more than likely postwar.
Neat item.

OK. Thank you! That might explain why I haven't been able to find any supporting pictures. So - back to square one again!

Sincerely,

I sent this link to Fred Deusch of NAOC, who has several 1933 Oldsmobiles. Waiting on his reply.

Fred identified the mascot as 1933 Olds six-cylinder car and attached a photo of one on his car. Since I don't know how to do it, I asked Peter G to help post it here. Hopefully we'll have it soon.

Many thanks to Fred for knowing and taking the time to help!

And once again, the Forum is working.

And, once again, I was wrong.
How does the saying go? Better to keep your mouth shut and have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove it...

Hi Pascsal,
The 1934 Oldsmobile uses the same mascot. it is a 6 cylinder car which was very similar to the 1933 model. The 8 cylinder models had a "Flying Lady" mascot which was outstanding.hope this helps Gary
