I'm trying to get to the cylinder in the rear quarter panel of my 49 Super convertible. I have removed the interior trim and found an access panel that easily removes, but does not give me clear access to the cylinder and window mechanism. There are some various bolts, but no clear indication of where to go from here. I have stopped for fear of messing something up more than I can fix.

Can anyone give me guidelines on how to get to the section so I can inspect/clean everything and replace the cylinder?

Boy, it has been a long time since I have looked at mine so I am going from memory. The way the window pivots you can only get at the cylinder if it is closed (down) or extended (up). One or the other but I cannot remember which. Either way you have to unhook the springs first then manually move the window to rotate the cylinder into a position where you can get at it.

Does this seem right? I may be confusing it with the door glass. Let me go look for my shop manual. Give me a day or two; it's in a storage box somewhere.

What are you having problems with - window sagging down when it's parked, or won't function at all?

Thanks.

My entire hydraulic system non-operational. I need to replace all cylinders, rubber hoses and overhaul the pump. The metal lines seem OK. Currently, all windows are stuck in the down position.
