Have a '30 CJ Six Chrysler and wonder where do I find a pinion oil seal for it? I tried a new old stock one from a seller on eBay. Soaked it in oil for days and installed. It lasted about a week and started to leak like crazy. I tried Larry Chedwiggen and no luck there either, but he's fantastic for new axle seals. Any leads?? Thanks!!!

Here's what I do for oil seals for old cars. And bearings too.

Look in the yellow pages for bearing dealers. Take them your old seal. They should be able to supply a new one. Bearings too.

Rusty has it right... This seperates the men from the boys..
BUT let me take this a step further.

If you can't find the exact seal, matterial, or the shaft
that your sealing to is a bit scored, there are ways around this also. A good machinist can make small shims to adapt
a mordern type seal. ETC. The shaft can be sleeved to
a slightly bigger size... This type of rebuild will be
better than new, and most of the time, no one will know
its been updated...

Thanks for the additional info, Eric. I purchased my car a few years ago in fully restored condition, probably completed in the 90s. The pinion seal started leaking a little. That nos one from ebay was no good, but since, I've reinstalled the one that came with the car. It is a newer seal, but where the previous owner got it, I'll never know. Also, I filled my dif with Lucas Oil Stabilizer and not a drop is leaking now!! Anyway, I would like to have an extra pinion seal, so this information is invaluable.
