put my top down today, and the drivers side pin, stayed with the car. Not the top. I pulled my lever and it came right out. This was the side that I could never get locked down. I haven't had the time to look at it better, does this just screw back in? The bolt is threaded. Thanks Tammy

Looking at the service manual, it appears it screws back in place. There is a "floating" nut that allows for adjustment. You would screw it in finger tight and check the pin for alignment with the hole on the boot. Loosen and align and when correctly aligned, tighten with wrench.
You might want to check the other side, it may be loose also.

Thanks Barney! I'm guessing that is why I was having so much trouble getting it to latch. But, I'm going to have to look for that "nut" not sure I have it, unless it is in the trunk.

I believe the "nut" is captured in a cage so it can "float" for adjustment. If you cannot find the nut, take the pin to a company that sells fastners and they will probably have something that will work.
