If I were to offer a locally made, high quality replacement strut rod, at a reasonable price, would any of you guys be interested in purchasing? I'll add more details later but as a few of you have found out, the strut rod inside the bushing where it meets the engine cradle can get severely worn and rusted and break without warning while driving. Or, in a less dramatic instance, break when trying to remove the nut for service.

The "strut rod", I believe it's called, is the rod that connects the front A arm, or whatever you'd like to call that, to the engine subframe

As I understand it, the rod itself is part of the control arm assembly. It cannot be replaced without the entire control arm being replaced. The control arm(with strut) is pretty pricey. The wear point, as Phil points out, is the front of the strut rod where it passes through the cradle. So, given that I would be very interested in the cost of replacing just the strut rod. There is a "BIG A@#" rivet anchoring it to the control arm. How is that being handled?

I haven't attempted it (yet) but I'm thinking I can take care of the big rivet as I did the rivets for the ball joints; grind down the top of it and punch it through
