Pollock Auto Restoration in Pottstown, PA is pleased to announce new management after being acquired by the ownership group of Ragtops & Roadsters, Inc. in Perkasie, PA. Most recently owned and managed by the late Ralph DeStefano, Pollock is the premier restorer of brass era and classic prewar automobiles in eastern PA.

Michael Engard, founder and president of Ragtops & Roadsters purchased Pollock from DeStefano’s estate with the goals of enhancing the quality of both management and client relations for the company. “We look forward to providing a top flight experience for our new and inherited clients,” says Engard. “I think they will see a renewed sense of dedication and professionalism as well as even better, more efficient service, workmanship, and most importantly, results.”

One of the keys to maintaining that level of quality through this transition and beyond is the dedication of current Pollock employees. “We are very excited that a number of the key people from the Pollock organization will stay on and continue their excellent work for this company under our new management.” Engard adds.

A landmark in Pottstown, Pollock Auto Restoration began life as Pollock Auto Showcase, an antique auto museum, in the 1950s. Founded by Bill Pollock, the first president of the AACA and a primer mover for the Hershey event, the museum morphed over time into a restoration facility for Classic and Brass Era vehicles as more and more clients sought the expertise of the staff after seeing the vehicles on display.

“Pollock has an exceptional reputation and a fascinating history.” says Engard, “Through this new strategic alliance that we are developing between Ragtops and Pollock, we can enhance the quality and reputation of both organizations by sharing our expertise, combining our resources, and providing the highest quality vehicles and services for all of our clients.” Pollock Auto Restoration is currently taking appointments for restoration and service work.

Pollock Auto Restoration is located at 70 S. Franklin Street in Pottstown, PA. For more information call (610)-323-7108. Their website, http://www.pollockauto.com is currently under construction. Ragtops & Roadsters is located at 203 S. 4th Street in Perkasie, PA. For more information call (215)-257-1202 or go to http://www.ragtops.com

Ragtops & Roadsters, which opened in 1990 and has quickly become one of the top restoration facilities for British classics and sports cars in the region will continue to deliver the same high quality restoration services.

Ted, it is. However, Mike asked for permission PRIOR to the post and was given it. Sometimes it is okay to bend the rules especially for a loyal AACA member. Giving this new venture a little helping hand up fits well in what we believe in. As my basketball buddies would say, "no harm, no foul"!

I agree Steve! That is not just any shop, it is an old one with a rich AACA history.I think it is nice to see an old shop continue serving the hobby. I'm not connected to it nore am I a customer, just an AACA member that likes to remember the good days and the people that made those days happy ones.

annnnnnd, to top it off they are going to be one of 14 designers/restoration shops that will be customizing a Champion pedal car for auction benefitting the AACA family! Stay tuned, we have a fun and exciting idea that includes such names as Steve Pasteiner, Fran Roxas, D & D, Dale Adams, General Motors, etc. Will be posting more soon but the pedal cars have been shipped and they are beginning the work.

except, and very importantly, Bill Pollack was NOT the first President of AACA. He was just one of the long stream that followed. Earl Beauchamp, Jr., Past President AACA.
errrrr....better said would be ONE of the many Past Presidents of AACA

Well, now I'm curious. Our info says that Bill Pollock was a founding member, the first president and he initiated the move of a small car show at the Hill School in Pottstown to a bigger location in Hershey, PA. With 11 vendors at that first show!

Where can I find accurate information about this early time in the AACA?

Bill Pollock was the 14th President of AACA, some 20 years after its founding.

Early AACA National Fall Meets were held in Devon, PA. In 1954 the Fall Meet was moved to Hershey, PA. I do not know who was behind that move. At least I don't know who was responsible without additional research that might uncover that fact.
