I was asking around about getting some correct steel wheels for my 52 Saratoga and got in touch with a guy that has a 1954 Windsor Deluxe he is getting ready to take to the crusher. Its in Midland, NC. No motor or transmission, mostly complete otherwise. Fairly good shape, was on the road in the 90's. I'd hate to snag parts off a restorable car, would anyone here be interested in this? I don't have room to put another car or I would get the whole thing. I'm supposed to go look at it this weekend (will get pics). I would rather save some parts if I can't get the whole car and nobody else has an interest in it. Are there any other parts that I could use on my Saratoga or any parts I should look at for anyone in need?

It's a shame, isn't it? There is next to no interest in cars of this vintage. If this were a 54 4dr sedan of nearly any other manufacturer besides Mopar, there would most likely be at least a few posts in reply. Heck, there might not be that many replies if the body style were a 2dr HT or even convertible. When I owned my 54 NY wagon, I was so anxious to show it off and talk to other enthusiasts at gatherings, i. e., car shows. Very naive of me - I was absolutely floored at the lack of interest in what was a very rarely seen vehicle. I quickly learned that relative rarity does not translate into desirability. I can't tell you the number of people that would walk by my car and call it a Plymouth. I hope someone decides to save this beast, but I suspect that it will indeed end up at the crusher due to lack of interest. And, that's too bad. They were great cars with somewhat stodgy styling.

i know what you mean about lack of interest in these mopars.i have a 54 windsor convertible and only 500 were produced. the rarity does not matter to most as it is not a GM or ford or other make.i doubt there are more than 10 of the same car that i own left, but that does not create demand for my car.anyway, i love driving it and that is what really matters. dennis

I'd get it in a heartbeat, but it's about 885 miles away. Not sure by the time I bought diesel both ways I'd be able to justify it. Anyone coming to the midwest empty?

the hood is there, the door chrome (pass side) is inside, and the car has motor mounts in place for a Chevy 350 swap. Body is worlds better than my 52!! There does not look to be many parts on it that I can use on my car

I'm confused.

There are those who rant and rave about destroying our country's heritage and destroying a piece of history if someone chops and channels a car like this, but they are curiously silent when one sadly goes to the crusher

I would grab it if I could but I am 3000 miles away. I also might modify something on it in a way that didn't come from the factory, so probably just as well, right?

Better it be crushed than modified?

CutNChop I have to agree with you even though i am agains t highly modifying them . you are 3,000 miles away i am alot further not sure how far but i live in New Zealand ,and if it was close enough i would grab it to even if i didn't have a car the same , i would sve all the stainles for a start , try and find good stainless for one of these , i know i have been trying for i dont know how many years to find some good replacements for a 54 plymouth that is not over priced , also look at the tail lamps they look in top condition , plus windsheild etc
