Looks like it might be a Devin. Check this website out:

There are too many nice details in the body to make it a Devin IMO, the windsheild wiper wells, door top cutdown, and solid windsheild. Can you enlarge the makers badge just forward of the hood?

Who was the idiot that attached the car to the trailer?

It's pretty clear that it's a rear engine car with Fuchs or Fuchs-style forged wheels. It's almost certainly a body kit on a Porsche 911 chassis. A little further research might determine who's body kit it was.

a lot of Devins were made with the Corvair drivetrain. In fact, one of Bill Devins cars was restored by a local Corvair legend, Tom Schrum some time ago, before Bill Devin died. That car was autocrossed as well. He was good friends with Bill and had a lot of inside info and parts. I am fairly certain it is a Devin.

Here is a lot of good Devin info:

Here is Tom's (before it was sold a couple of years ago)

They don't quite look like Porsche wheels to me. This looks like it may be the same car, with possibly the same wheels. They still seem different than the Porsche's, but I could be wrong.
It appears it was the Devin D that was Corvair powered (or rear-engine). The Devin SS was a front-engined car. The car on the trailer above looks to be a "D."

thanks for all the help!

I too thought Devin...just was not sure. Those appear to be BRM wheels without the center caps...this would lean maybe towards VW or Porsche pan!?

West, your picture looks identical to this car. Looks like the dang key is still stuck in the hood!

We had a few hot Devins that ran our hills!

Definetly not Porsche Fuchs, but Speedwell BRMs as mentioned. Perhaps originals, judging by the original "vintage" shot. Very rare, and very pricey these days.

5x205mm bolt circle, VW or could be drum-brake Por-shuh.

Hey Stonefish, look at the left front axle stub. You can see the speedometer cable sticking through, but I think the Jesus clip is missing. You can see it through the BRM Speedwell wheel without the centercap. That makes it at least a VDub front axle. You should know that, aircooled breath!!
