I haven't heard yet, but if you or anyone gets the final numbers on everything, I'd like to have them for planning purposes.

Yes, me, the abuser and prankster to many or poor unsuspecting souls has volunteered to be a meet chairman and target of everyone's abuse in the spring of 2010.

Y'all have the next two years to figure out how to get even with me...

Pat, you need to contact Art Griffin from Cape Canaveral Region.
Art has some extensive information for anyone planning on a big meet. Since Art is an "efficiency expert", you can be sure the notes will be handy. ;\)

Tell him, "Big Daddy" sent you!

We have sent out almost 1300 requests. The meet chairman is hoping for 800-1,000 cars!!!

We should be able to get a head count in about ten or twelve days. Just for giggles I predict 475.

With 1,300 requests mailed out I would think those bringing vehicles should be in the 1,000 to 1,100 range?

Dick, start giggling as we already have surpassed your prediction. Don Reid and his gang have really been working hard on this meet and I know a lot of the hotels are sold out. We usually get the last minute flood come in so I think we will end up possibly around 700 if things follow the past trends.

Ron, we always get far more requests then actually attend...usually about 50% of the total. Go figure?

Just wondering, when people use the phrase "xxxx number of requests mailed out" does that mean that those are responses to requests for cards from the AACA magazine postcards?

The reason I ask is that the "xxxx" number is potentially lower than the actual number.
I say that because it does not include those members who register for AACA events on-line and do not use the postcards from the magazine.
Granted, the number of members using on-line registration is probably small compared to the traditional postcard/mail way of doing it.

That brings up another question maybe Steve M. or some chapter/region people can address.
Last night I registered on-line for the Cumberland Meet (add 1 more car to the numbers).
I noticed that the on-line registration still does not include the ability to pay using a credit card.
Is there a timetable for when paying with a credit card (on-line) will be another alternative to printing out the card and mailing a check????

I realize the chapter/region/national setup of the AACA complicates on-line payment for meets as well as the potential costs involved with this payment option.
IIRC, I asked this same question 2-3 years ago when I first started entering AACA Meets. Just wondering what the current status of this payment option is and when AACA members might see it become a reality??

Charlie,

Excellent point! No my comment was strictly mail requests and does not necessarily take into account those that do not request the meet brochure and just register online.

As to paying by credit card. Funny you should ask! This was also brought up (again) at our roundtable in Florida and is being now addressed. Sharon Lee gave us our marching orders to get this done immediately. Fortunately, just a week ago we got our new e-commerce site done and finally fixed our software to be capable of taking online payments! We will have this handled by year's end for sure.

We do have some internal issues to deal with as your surmised with the regions and chapters but we will find a way to do it. Naturally this will add a bit of overhead to the club but we can handle that. There were legitimate reasons for the wait but the wait was overdue. Your board of directors and national headquarters staff is always interested in doing what the members want and need. We do listen! Thanks!

Steve it would sure be nice to hit the 700 mark, but I base my guess on Binghamton 2007. As you know over 1300 request sent out and we had I believe 487 cars. And just for the record I busted my hump geting the word out on our show. Not to blow my own horn, but I evan signed up several new members and got a pin from Hershey Didnt evan know about the program. Can I get anouther pin????
