No, not the Ford Mavrick tow vehicle ( although I don't think you fellas would get that one right!! ) I'll give you a little closer look in the trailer to help.

Wow! It looks like it is comming along very nice. Has to be the 34 on your list. Did you get it that way or are you restoring it Stuart? I like the fact that it is right hand drive. Dandy Dave!

Dave,
This is the start, " a diamond in the rough?? ". Although from the expression on my face in one of the photo's I don't think that was the thought running through my mind at the time.

I think the word "ROUGH" is pretty tame when describing this aquisition.

Stu, great job. Keep posting pictures and updating us.

Is the tow vehicle {Nissan Patrol/Maverick} a cut down wagon Jetback?
I remember looking at a pic of a 34 Roadster in Eddie Fords Holden book.
Looks like u are doing a great restoration!

Dear Stu:
See Norm Darwin's book "The History of Holden since 1917" Page 44. The picture there shows a 1934 8-40 roadster, Holden bodied. Looks an awful lot like your pictures.
Regards, Dave Corbin

Dave,

Yes, you're right. It's body number 29 of the 45 8-40 Roadster bodies built by Holden in 1934 to fit to imported stripped chassis. Good to see you are getting conversant with Norm Darwins book which I put you onto, has it helped with your serial number production dating?

Manuel,

The tow vehicle is a Maverick cab chassis with the cab extended, not a wagon cut down ( although I have seen that done as well ). There was a body builder in Perth who did these conversions before Nissan/Ford etc realised it was a good idea and started producing them ex factory.
