Hello everyone,
I'll be changing my oil on my 1970 Cutlass SX in a few days, and I wanted to know if anyone had their recommendation (with a part number) for their oil filter of choice. The motor is a 455 V8. Thanks and I look forward to your responses.

Sincerely,

Well- you won't go wrong with an AC-PF24 if you can find one. I don't think ACD has "consolidated" that one with another number like they did the Chevy filters.

A Purolator or WIX will work well too; both good, quality filters. Be aware that both these companies make private-label filters too, i.e. NAPA Gold and CarQuest house brand filters.

The only ones I totally stay away from are orange.

"That's a strange concept, Son" said my father as he sampled the day's run of silvery-clear moonshine for taste and quality. "Good 'shine, that. Your grandpap would be proud that the gift has passed on to another generation. But yes, it's real strange that some folks feel like a varmint has more right to illegally inhabit and destroy your property than you have to prevent it from doing it."

"Come to think of it, that's why your Uncle Reade sold off all them rental houses he had. It was costing him more to fix what the varmints tore up than he was making off 'em. And the govamint wouldn't let him evict them."

I use the NAPA gold on all our vehicles. I don't know the number for the Olds off hand, but they can look it up.
