cardinal905 ...make sure and put a little oil in each cylinder before you crank it for the first time. and lube up other moving parts. As to information try the Detroit Public Library, The Philadelphia Public, and the AACA Library.

Get yourself a copy of "Dyke's Automobile and Gasoline Engine Encyclopedia" from the late teens from one of the on-line auction sites, find one at Hershey, or even well-stocked used book stores in your area. It's a thick (500 pages) book of all kinds of info on cars of the era including troubleshooting, engineering cross sections, &c. If you want an original copy of the owner's manual and parts book (if they made one) for your car these can be found at on-line auction sites or more reliably at the big literature dealers you will find listed in Hemmings (Walter Miller, Bob Johnson, &c.) or again get one directly from them at Hershey. Otherwise contact the libraries already listed above for photocopies. Finally, the book "Understanding Your Brass Car" by the late Harold Sharon is a good reference (I know, a 1916 Maxwell is too new to be considered a brass car, but a lot of his advice and philosophy are still applicable.) Good luck and have fun with it.

Try this web site for a Google Books online version of Dyke's 1920 version:
http://books.google.com/books?id=BtYbqYN...E&hl=en#PPA1,M1
It is a long link, but clicking on it should take you to the site. If not, Google Bosch NU-4 Dykes. That is how I found it!
